I NEED HANKS!!!

Comments

  • He's still the true Home Run King. Nothing real since. (well, hoping Pujols keeps going) The only home run I saw of Aaron's was the 715. When out 'collecting' on my paper route a neighbor told me Hank was up. I actually did not know much about baseball then. He said I should see this. He let me in to see Hank bat, and that was the dinger. Will always remember that.
  • Lest we forget, Hank is also the all-time RBI Leader! Amazing to lead in Homers and RBI's for a little fella at 6' and around 180 pounds.

And still one of the most under appreciated and under rated players of all time. He doesn't get his just due.

If he played in a larger market - he'd be so much more appreciated.

He played without flair, spotlight, controversy (less his race) and was just simply reliable day in - day out. So under-rated!!

#2 ALL-TIME (ugh) Homers ---cannot let this go I still believe Hank is #1
#1 ALL-TIME All-Star selections with 24 (tied with Mays and Musial)
    #3 ALL-TIME Hits (behind Rose & Cobb)
    #1 ALL-TIME Extra Base Hits
    #2 ALL-TIME Intentionally Walked (Behind ugh...Bonds)
    #1 ALL-TIME Fewest Errors Committed-Outfielder
#4 ALL-TIME Sacrifice Flies (Behind Murray, Ripken & Yount ---situational hitters)
#3 ALL-TIME Plate Appearances (Behind Rose and Yaz)
Never out of the top ten during any of his playing years in Slugging Percentage

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

One of my favorite statistics in all of sports:

Take away all of Hank's home runs, he still has over 3000 hits.
  • my all-time favorite baseball player. no one else is close.

A complete and wonderfully well rounded player.

Still underappreciated, although (ironically), Bonds passing his record made a lot of people take a second look at him and start to give him his due.

Seems content and happy in his life, which an equally great accomplishment, to my eyes.
  • Hank Aaron and Babe Ruth back to back, wow. Happy Birthday Henry and George.
