Would this help anything for shipping complaints?

What if someone that is selling sports cards on Ebay sets his shipping rates to exact postage + $1.00? If the card sold for $1 he would still get reimbursed for bubble mailer and the little stuff like label, tape, etc. and he would know he wasn't going to be in the hole for the transaction. If it was an auction and it didn't sell for higher, that's just too bad as it was obviously the going rate someone would pay for it.

Some with stores and BiN's get a little greedy on the additional item charges, but if you feel that you're taking a loss then you should increase the prices from $1 to $1.29 or something to cover materials.

Either way, it's pretty straightforward to the buyer that the seller is charging actual shipping costs and trying to cover additional expenses with the $1 handling fee. Wouldn't that be acceptable for the majority as long as they didn't PWE you? Would you ding their DSR's over the $1 for handling? If there's card sellers ion Ebay that do this, I don't know as I haven't been buying much in a while. There would have to be a little extra time because you'd have to invoice every purchase, but it it's time consuming it means you're selling stuff.

  • When using calculated shipping, you can easily enter a handling fee. The only difficult part is that you have to know the shipping weight of the item when listing it.

If your item weighs more than 2 pounds and less than 3 pounds, you enter the weight from a drop-down list and enter it in the system as "2+ to 3 pounds" and you also specify which shipping services you plan to offer. Then enter your handling fee, and ebay does the rest. Buyers can easily see their exact shipping charges for up to three different services by entering their destination zip code. Their charge will be the exact shipping charge for the specified service plus your specified handling fee.
