I didnt realize there were coin forums out there.. haha I have had this thing for many years, but dont know what it is. A coin? Something else? • I checked those links from here and all is good. I have the latest and greatest AV installed. Sorry your having issues!
  • My issues stem directly from your link. I am now up to the 5th virus downloader found. All this from your link.

  • As an update and a courtesy i will inform members now that the virus downloaders are trojans exe files and identified as keyloggers and information harvesting files. If you clicked on the link do be careful what you type ie passwords to various sites.

Richard , i've a question , there's every chance you don't know you are distributing these viruses , but why after WillieBoyd posted the pics for you and in light of what i posted are the links still there ?
  • I honestly dont understand how you got these viruses.. But I apologize if you got them from my link. I have been using Image Shack for a long time and have never had this issue before.. I just scanned the coins and put the images out there on their server. I removed the link as soon as I saw your AVG posting....

I'm pretty sure it is from India. It's really fat and thick, right?

Welcome! Do hope you'll stick around a bit.

Oh, I'll stick around. I enjoy my coins.

No problem Richard , they will be coming from that server. Most use photobucket and saves you the trouble of linking.

Theboz , it wasn't AVG that alerted me , it was IObit security , AVG scanned and vaulted them.If you clicked it you might want to update and do a scan.

If I recall correctly, a lot of those thick coppers were from 19th century India, though of course there were perhaps similar pieces struck earlier than that. I really couldn't help you pin down the type without browsing through the entire India section of the Krause catalog, which is pretty huge. Do you have Krause? If so, try the India section of the 19th century volume first, and be prepared to shuffle through a lot of pages!

Maybe Vikram Deshmukh ("koincollect") will be able to assist, if you send him a Private Message. I'm not sure how much he's online here, though. (In any event, you'll want to go to your Profile and activate the Private Messages function). Vikram collects Indian coins (and might actually be IN India, but I forget). Otherwise, I am more than certain that there will be a few folks here who are up to the challenge. I collect a little bit of Indian coinage myself, but only the British India stuff, which is of course in English.

    << <i>It's from Kafiristan. >>

He was kidding, of course- I just turned him on to the movie "The Man Who Would Be King" (which, if you haven't seen it, you simply must watch).

Still, the semi-fictional Kafiristan was set not far from where that coin was probably made. Central Asia, y'know.

Interesting that Sultan Shah Jahan, Begum of Bhopal, was a woman ruler of a Moslem state.

    Different spellings, Begum or Begam?
