I am the Board Treasurer for the Ellis County Children's Advocacy Center, Inc. DBA The Gingerbread House, and we are having our primary fundraiser of the year next weekend, Feb. 4-6 here in Waxahachie, TX (26 miles South of Dallas). It's a chili cook-off, barn dance with prime rib dinners, and silent and live auctions. All proceeds help offset our costs and benefit the center 100%. We hope to net out about $30,000 that helps fund our annual budget. All donations are tax deductible as we are a 501(c)(3).
If anyone wants to come and have fun, or want to know more about what The Gingerbread House does, please PM or post your questions. We have a mechanical bull riding competition with preliminaries on Friday night, and the finals on Saturday night during the barn dance. If you'd like to ride in the competition, I can arrange that. Here's a couple of videos that will show you what that is like (I'm close to the end of the men's comp):

Also, we have some nice auction items up in our silent and live auction on Saturday. We'll have a couple round trip Southwest Airlines tix, a lot of local gift certificates, and one of the local banks is going to donate 2 SuperBowl tickets to Sunday's big game for the live auction Saturday night. (I don't know where the seats are and we won't know until that night) We also raffle off about a $3,500 riding lawn mower (lawnmowerman, come in) , and raffle tix are $10 each.
Friday night is free to watch and Saturday is free as well until the barn dance that night. We have plenty of room for chili cooks (entry fee), prime rib dinners (fee), and will also have a concession stand available. We have sponsorships available, and gladly accept donations as well.
If you are local, or will be in the DFW metroplex for the big game, and want to experience a truly unique Texas weekend, come on down and join us.
Take care,
Mike
