Shipping to Canada...what if Paypal is not used?

I know if a person pays for an Ebay auction with Paypal, the only way to cover my butt is to ship USPS Express Mail International and it costs about $30.00. What if the person agrees to pay with check/money order. Is there another cheaper but still safe way to deliver without gettting burned if customer says item wasn't received??

Priority International w/minimum insurance is half
the cost of EMI, but not PayPal compliant.

Works fine for folks you know, and strangers who
pay with an international money order.

Don't use the flat-rate envelope.
