cut signature doesn't match exemplars but I saw it signed in person

I'm the first to admit this doesn't look like David Cone's normal signature. I was 8 years old in 1987 and he was pitching for the Mets. He came to talk to all the kids in the baseball camp on an off-day and signed autographs for everyone. I know for a fact it's authentic. I even got an extra one, also on a post-it note, for my neighbor, and I had him personalize that one. Even at 8 years old, I knew it was better to have a non-personalized autograph for myself.

1987 was Cone's first full year in the majors and he was only 24 at the time, so his signature hadn't yet evolved. I figured PSA/DNA would have some examples of early signatures from when he first made it to the majors, but this came back N4 questionable authenticity. I even specified on the submission form that it was signed in 1987.

So the authentication fee is gone, and now I have to contact them to try to have the grading/encapsulation fee credited on my next submission. This sucks.
