Worthless Ebay listings

I am continually amazed at the absolutely worthless cards I see listed on Ebay. Why would sellers take the time to even list some of these cards. I mean, who is going to buy this or this or this?

There are multiplied thousands of cards listed on Ebay that are worthless and would never be bought. Why would a seller waste the time to list junk like that? I will only list a card that I know will bring at least $1 and I will only do that if I have a bunch of other cards that I am selling at the same time.

Let's see what worthless Ebay listings you guys can find. They might be more amazing than the ones I found above.

Wow! I searched one of those sellers completed items and I found this. Maybe this thread should be about seemingly worthless cards that actually sell. I am blown away that a card like that would sell for $1.99. This seller actually had a few like this that sold. Amazing!

I wouldn't give $0.35 for every card this guy has listed. Why? Why waste the time?

Shane ... you beat me to it ... I looked at the seller's feedback and saw how many of these cards he actually sold!!!! Some people have no clue ... they see a card of someone they like and buy it ... they figure it's just $2.00.

PS Married in '88 as well!

My MIL used to say "There's not a kettle so black you can't find a lid to fit it.

BTW in 88 my wife and I celebrated our 20th Anniversary.

That is the rare "ball on the white line in good condition" error version of Bruce Ruffins Score card. It's worth at least $1.07.

I was looking at completed listings to see what a 1987 Topps Tiffany set sold for and saw about a hundred listings for commons/stars that were listed at a buck each. If everyone remembers about a year or so ago when ebay started all this new listing fee carp and gave everyone a hundred free listings if they started it at a buck or whatever that this would be the result. Now they are increasing the free listings to just about any start price. Ebay is desperate and so are the cash strapped, the two together means monster garbage listings where good listings get lost in the middle and unfortunately, there goes the "higher listing" hoax that ebay was putting out.
IT IS ALWAYS CHEAPER TO NOT SELL ON EBAY
  • if Ebay had not sold it's sellers down the river they would be in a better place today.

This one might have a bidding war going. Do I win anything?

  • I paid $56 for a card that was worth about $0.05. I am a Cardinals collector and I needed a very obscure item. It was a box bottom card from 1988 Fleer Superstars. It was simply a Cardinals logo card. The 1988 Fleer Superstars was one of those boxed sets with 44 cards.

Well, those sets came in display boxes with several boxed sets in them. A case had 4 display boxes. Each display box had the Cardinals logo card. The only way I could find the card was to buy a whole case. Believe me, I looked for a solid 2 years and never saw that stupid card. I bought the case for $56, opened it up, cut one of the Cardinals logo cards, sealed it back up, listed it on Ebay with full displcoser, and it sold for $15.50. So, in reality, I paid over $40 for a card that is worth $0.05.

I would have guessed that you could appreciate when someone takes the time to list worthless cards for saleimage

Why does he sell cards for .01 cents and offer free shipping? He loses money on every sale? Am I missing something?

My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)

That was partly my point with the above post. Worthless listing have been going on for years, and I tried to find my worthless card for about 5 years, and still the only way I could get it is to buy an entire case!

    Why do people so this?

To fulfill their dream of owning a card shop.

    Why list obscure items?

    More inventory.

    Who buys this stuff?

People for TTMs and to fill in incomplete sets.

Why pay those prices when you can buy them at sportlots.com for $0.18? Maybe they don't know about that site.
