  • Why would you want to put yourself or your wife to all that trouble? My wife got a top of the line bread maker 5 years ago for Christmas I think it cost $314.00. She has never even took it out of the box to this day.

    My moma made 29 loafs of bread a week when I was growing up. In a conventional gas oven. Good memory's! Thanks!image

    I'm not sure what it was but my wife borrowed a friend of hers one. You just put all the ingredients in and turn it on and out comes a loaf later. Pretty neat if you want to try making different things, but a dust collector if you're not serious about it and don't have a use for more than 1 loaf a week.

    Hello,

    I've had one for years. The bread does NOT keep a day later. But that said I really enjoy dumping in ingredients and getting a hot fresh loaf of bread a few hours later. Mine has a timer so you can set it and go to work, have fresh bread ready when you get home.

    One version I like the most is beer bread, flour and a can of beer.

    Anyway...

    I think the cost of bread would have to go way up to make having a bread maker cheaper than a loaf.

    Cheers
    I still call my accumulation my collection!

    If you really want the best breadmaker out there, you want the Zojirushi Home Bakery Supreme® Breadmaker Model BB-CEC20.

    Features:
    * Bakes a large traditional rectangular shaped 2 lb. loaf
    * Exclusive Home Made Menu function includes 3 memory settings
    * Sour Dough Starter function prepares a light sourdough starter in a little over 2 hours
    * Quick baking cycle prepares breads in about 2 hours
    * 13 hour delay timer
    * Auto shut-off system for added safety
    * Includes an easy-to-follow instruction video, manual and recipe booklet
    * Menu settings include: white bread, wheat bread, sour dough starter, dough, jam, cake, quick bread and 3 home made menus
    * cULus listed

    It has dual kneading blades. I own a different brand with a single (Breadman TR2200C), and I can tell you singles aren't very good at mixing the corners of the breads that well. Duals are much better at proper mixing. The fact it has a fresh fruit jam cycle is just icing on the cake. While I don't own this model, I do own a Zojirushi rice cooker (fuzzy logic) that I love. I even make applesauce in my rice cooker (rhubarb-applesauce is so good) and it has a timer so I can have steel-cut oats ready when I get out of bed in the morning. Zojirushi is known for their quality when it comes to rice cookers and breadmakers and you won't go wrong with them. In the Zojirushi breadmaker, you can even make a meatloaf!

    And here I thought you were talking about a machine that printed bread,
    i.e., paper money........

    I would agree. I have this one and use it one to two times a week with no problems yet.
