What The heck Is This?

Not sure where I got this, it says father-son game but appears to be a softball game between the Reds players and there wives. I've narrowed it down to 1978, so it's August 1,1978. The interesting thing is it's signed by the player's wives, and not the players!image

Maybe you know something that I don't, but it seems more likely to me that it WAS a father-son game, but the wives signed it, for whatever reason.

There was a father-son game on August 6, 1978, according to this person...

looks to me like one of those funnel-shaped objects you holler through, hence the slogan and the portion for the autographs.

    just a guess.

Now if the wives could just give handwriting lessons to today's ballplayers.
  • It's from August 1, 1977. The wives of Bob Bailey and Joe Hoerner signed it, Bailey and Hoerner played for the Reds in 1977 but not after 1977. As it says on the item, the Reds beat the Cubs 7-6 on August 1, 1977. Tom Seaver started the game but got a no decision, he didn't win the game as is written incorrectly on the item.

Your right, when I first looked at Tom Seaver's stats didn't realize he was on the Reds in 1977. Still have no idea how the Mets let Seaver go twice(but, thats another story). I also agree that it wasn't a softball game between husbands and wives. It's interesting that whomever had it signed decided to get the wives autos. I also thought it was for popcorn, but it looks like a horn, so it probably is both.
