If I recall, most folks poopoo'd these sets back when....I was sorta in that camp also!!!
When the 2008-W Buffs sold out, I decided to buy 2 of these sets knowing the Buffs were of value.
Each coin is 1/2 oz of gold FYI.

2008 Mint Price: $1082/set x 2 sets = $2164.00

My Graded PCGS Coin values are the following:

2008-W AGE UNC MS69 ...$1350.00
2008-W AGE UNC MS70 .. $1700.00
2008-W Buff UNC MS69 ...$1550.00
2008-W Buff UNC MS69 ...$1550.00
Total.................................$6150.00

Did anyone else enjoy this "Prosperity?"
Time for my friend Miles to Chime in!!! image

I missed the "regrets I passed" thread...

I regret I passed on this set and the AGE anniversary set. image I think I could have swung the cash then, but just decided to pass "to be safe."

It was hard to go wrong with any 2008 sets, but this remains perhaps the weakest purchase possible. Both are relatively high-mintage coins compared to buying, say ten 1/4-ounce buffs. Still, you were smart to buy them, because virtually any money put into '08 gold coins will/has paid off handsomely. So...KUDOS!

I missed the Prosperity Boat Bully!

I had no idea they would they would gain so well and Congrats to the grades.

I was too busy loading my CC up to the hilt with the "other" Proserity issues in 2008!

What a lucky year, huh? I do believe you missed zero boats, am I correct?

    Closed Loop,
I thought the idea was to mint 8000 or 8800 or smoething like that, but I believe the final mintage of these sets was 7,751 on top of what the Mint made of the individual issues.
I passed on these and got 2 2008-W 1/2 oz proof buffs instead, but wouldn't complain if I had one of these instead!

It's easier not to miss the boat when one has the funds to purchase the ticket.

I have one raw set bought from the U.S. Mint. When the gold fractional buffs sold out, the sets raw were going close to 3K. They have fallen to around $2200-$2400 these days.
