eBay Bidder claims "part of a class action lawsuit" - sound familiar?

MsMorrisineMsMorrisine Posts: 32,123 ✭✭✭✭✭
PLEASE SEND ANOTHER EMAIL ADDRESS OUTSIDE EBAY. I’D LIKE TO BUY THE COIN BUT EBAY IS BEING SUED BY ME AND IS TRYING YO CUT OFF MY ACCOUNT. I WANTED TO BID THE OPENING BID ON THE COIN, BUT RBAY PREVENTED ME. I HAVE HAD TWO STRIKES IN THE LAST MONTH BECASUE ONE SELLER REFUSED TO SEND THE COIN AFTER I PAID AND EBAY DECIDED THE APPEAL IN HIS FAVOR. THAT IS WHY I AM IN A CLASS ACTION SUIT. THEY DID NOT EVEN ASK FOR MY VERSION OF EVENTS. CALL ME AT 918-###-####. I’VE SPENT THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS ON EBAY THIS YEAR AND THEY TREAT ME LIKE THIS. (edit: this person has a feedback of one (1))

=====================================================================================================================

I ALSO WANT TO BID ON ANOTHER ONE, SO PLEASE ALLOW ME AN EXCEPTION TO BID ON IT. THANKS. JON

=====================================================================================================================

I’VE ALREADY BEEN ABLE TO ENTE A BID ON IT AND TRIED TO RAISE IT AND RAN INTO THE SAME EBAY BS. PLEASE ALLOW ME TO CONTINUE TO BID ON IT. JON

=====================================================================================================================

Here's my block bidders criteria:
Block buyers who:
•Have received 2 Unpaid item Strike(s) within 1 month(s)
•Have a primary shipping address in countries that I don't ship to
•Have 4 Policy violation report(s) within 1 month(s)
•Have a feedback score equal to or lower than -1

I recognize this story...

does someone here recognize it?

Any red flags here besides the guy:
1. has 1 feedback but many thousands worth of purchases (different ids)
2. bid when he claimed he couldn't

    yes, through the system.

    And check this out. The "first contact":

    what kind of shape is it in? if you’ve sold coin, you can make a prettry accurate guess at a grade. it is AU-55, MS-60, MS-65? I ILTTLE MORE INFO WOULD BE NICE. NEIL

    This one is signed NEIL, not JON.

    Oh... this sounds ugly.

    I've already decided I'm going to try to cancel this person's bid and block them.

    They admit they have 2 unpaid strikes yet somehow managed to bid. (different id?)

    Seems to me that's circumvention of the rules in some way.

    It is. If a user circumvents seller blocks by using a different ID it's a violation of eBay's malicious bidder policy.

    I would probably politely answer a question or 2 and if what he wanted to do seemed fair, I'd go with it. These high maintenance, red flag flying buyers often are willing to pay a fair price and if you just listen to their rant, you can become their favorite seller. And since most sellers react like you did, they treat you right. --Jerry

    If things came up clean here I was going to go for it.

    I just thought the story sounded familiar and someone here heard this story before. I wanted to make sure.

    What did the guy in was using two different names on top of admitting he had (at least) two unpaid item strikes, obviously bid to find out he was blocked by the two unpaid item strikes, then bid with another account.
