E-bay screw-up: What should I do now?UPDATE at bottom of first post:Seller sends me an e-mail.

Earlier this morning I was looking on E-bay trying to find a coin to buy so I could use my (approx.$20) e-bay bucks on before they expire Feb.2nd.
I have been looking to buy a Seated half dollar so I was searching that catagory when I came across this 1877-P half that looked promising for the $89 w/free shipping BIN.The seller had like 5000+ feedback and 99+% positive so I hit the BIN button.I then check his feedback and find out that they have gotten a lot of negative feedback this month(like 11) I have not paid for the item yet and if I do I will likely have to file a claim in a couple weeks. Also the seller has already left positive feedback for me saying something like; Prompt payment, valued customer etc.So what would you do in this situation? Below is the sellers pic of the item.

UPDATE: I have received an e-mail from the seller and this gets more bizzare by the minute. He says and I quote:
"David, don't pay anything or you will lose your or shirt.I have too much to explain."

<< <i>Looks like a TennesseeDave screw up.
I sent the seller an e-mail explaining why I haven't paid yet.I am very willing to pay for the coin if they will deliver it!!!!!!!!
I do see a problem here, good luck.
Looks like the guy had a stint of bad luck with feedback. My gut is telling me he's not lying about the heart attack.
EDIT: Looks like he will accept returns, so maybe pay for it and have an expert eye take a look. It doesn't look right to me, but it could be the lighting. Not knowing anything more about the transaction, it's hard to say. If you're gut is telling you it's a bad idea, back out and you might save yourself time and return shipping later.
Ike Specialist
Finest Toned Ike I've Ever Seen, been looking since 1986
Seller has no other items of for sale at the time....unusual for someone with 5,000+ transactions. I once was told the "heart-attack" story in my early days. After trading letters and phone calls for weeks the guy eventually skipped town with my money and the coins I had returned to him because they weren't as promised.

<< <i>The coin does look to be too good to be true for $89. Ostensibly an unc but with a heavy rub across the obv high points. It may not be whizzed, polished, or cleaned but that can't be discerned from the photos.

When I 1st saw this listing there were 15 to 20 other items for sale, all cheap so I assume they all sold.

His recently completed items can be foundhere
The Seated Half Dollar looks to be genuine and at least and AU, but, as mentioned, it could be cleaned, whizzed or counterfeit. Or perhaps it won't be shipped.

It's too bad eBay doesn't provide a feature for buyers to use when that sort of thing happens, in order to alert other bidders of potential problems.
Oh, wait- nevermind...

His recent sales have scam written all over them-- selling silver dollars and halves with buy it nows well below melt value on ebay- the seller would either have to be really stupid or a crook. Just seeing Panda in his name had me thinking China scam all the way.
As for selling stuff cheap, who knows. If I had a heart attack I might just decide to get rid of all of my possessions quick and head for the Bahamas.
I'm playing devil's advocate here because I'm not ready to jump on the "scammer" boat with this guy.
Really?
edited to add: I posted this after reading the first page only, yeah do what has already been said.
I would not bid on such a sellers items, or you will find yourself winning and then the auction will be pulled.
<< <i>If you look on Ebay at the sellers sold items, you will notice many silver dollars, that were listed at 99 cents to start auction no reserve, they all show no bids, so I clicked on the 0 bids and it shows that the seller cancelled all the bids because they did not reach a value he wanted I guess. This shows to me a dishonest seller, he should start the auction at a price he would be willing to sell at in the first place, if he is not going to honor the auction win.

While that sounds as if he violated EBay policy, the cancellations might also show that he is not a scammer, however.

Very close line between a dishonest seller willing to circumvent Ebay fees, and a scammer!

Are you sure the email is actually from the seller?

It was received through the E-bay message system which contained my original message to the seller.
If it was hijacked and he got back into it to send that email I'd expect he would say something like "account was hijacked, canceling all recent orders". Nothing seems clear with it other than there's a problem. I'd forget it and move on.
