Inspired by Bob, my custom 1955 Bowman Jackie Robinson

Bob made a great 55 Bowman Roberto Clemente. You can see it on a previous post on here.

Bob, you inspired me to try a 55 Robinson. Finding the right picture was the hard part. I think it turned out pretty good. It is just a quick "sketch" and is too low resolution to actually print a card. I found the photo on the cover of an old Jet magazine. Just grabbed the image off ebay. I might go ahead and buy the mag so i can make this higher resolution so I can print out the card. Love seeing all the customs on here and on your blog. Keep them coming!

    Great Job!

    Good for you.
  • Actually, I think the low res pic is more authentic then a super clear shot. After all, this is '55 Bowman we're talking about image

great design- would love to see him in a '57 Topps as a Giant, after the trade.

Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's

  • Nice job, although the font on Robinson is off. Look for an Eddie Robinson card from the same set and paste that name box on your card.

For the name plate try 9 or 10 point Century Gothic or Century Gothic bold.

Thanks for the suggestion. Here is the revised version using the block of type from the Eddie Robinson card. I just used the type, not the whole block, because it looks like the type is off center vertically on all the Eddie Robinson cards, and looks awful! Comparing the type I had to this, I was really not that far off, but this is better.
