PCGS or NGC?
![mintmark](https://us.v-cdn.net/6027503/uploads/authoricons/icon_Oregan_Trail.jpg)
New to service graded coins, Thinking of joining either the PCGS or NGC service.
What's the advantage of each? Is there one? Why did you pick one or the other?
I'm looking to get about 12 coins graded after joining. Thank You

I prefer PCGS because I think that the grading is more consistent and slightly more strict, on average, I prefer the holder design, and the market prefers PCGS when you sell the coins. Those are my opinions, and others may agree or disagree. A lot depends on what the coins are and what are your intentions after having them graded.
I have a mixture of coins to grade.

<< <i>Let me put it this way, If i buy a coin from you in the future in a NGC holder, I'm going to crack it and send it to PCGS.
That is a purty good way to keep both companies in business.
Now with that said i think PCGS`s new secure and sniffer is first rate...

For world coins, they're equal, as far as I'm concerned.
For ancients, which happen to be my current avenue, NGC is the only game in town. (Well, maybe not the only game in town, depending on whether ANACS has resumed grading them, but NGC is where my Romans will be headed next week.)

Well...look where you are asking this question. What kind of replies are you expecting? ....
For certifying my own coins, I would go with PCGS. However, for my collection in general, I believe that if you don't collect coins slabbed by both companies, you may not have the best collection. There are great coins in both holders.
If that is not a factor, then by all means PCGS. PCGS offers the SecurePlus Fingerprint and Coin Sniffer. Those two technologies will ensure that someone buying your coin knows it has not been tampered with, especially your gold coins. NGC is lagging in those technologies.
What is undeniable, is that PCGS certified coins command higher premiums in the market place... so if you are going to incur the expense of getting your coins slabbed, this may be the way to go, since they will be worth potentially more in PCGS holders.
When it comes to buying, however, always trust your eyes more than the label from either company.

It is my opinion that this relationship is irrelevant to the collector, whether buying or selling coins, and this advice should be disregarded.

It's like walking into a Chevy dealer and asking people if they prefer Mustangs or Camaros.

I think you are still not sure
<< <i>Apparently, if you are thinking of selling them some day at Heritage, you should get them graded by NGC because those two companies are in cahoots.

It's not only irrevelevant, but I would also deem it ignorant and a cheap shot without being knowledgable about any facts other than some % of ownership.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

I was thinking the exact same thing, well put.
