What would you do?

If you were putting together a basic design type set for half dollars and needed a Kennedy half to complete the set, what would you choose?
Would you choose a fairly inexpensive, plain vanilla MS66 1964 (P or D) and call it a day? Would you get a later year PR70DCAM? Would you spend super big bucks and buy a wildly toned piece?

It depends on the dealer... they could literally be beside each other if they were offered by the same dealer!

Yup...that's my answer too.
If you make one coin standout from the rest it may spoil the look and leave you unsatisfied with others.

+1 lol

Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.

If the rest of the coins in your set are circulated, then I would dig through dealers' melt piles and try to locate a nice crusty, circulated 1964 (I'm sure they're out there even though they must not have circulated for long). But if you're looking for an MS coin, I would still go for a 1964. Blast white or toned is up to you.

I didn't mean those were the only two options. I used those as just two examples. Any other ideas from anyone? Thanks!

I like that one. I just can't justify the extreme markup on toned Kennedy halves. Maybe I just need to look longer.

they are found in after market year sets or mint sets
look for the ones with snap lock plastic covers and cardboard inserts
