Doing most of it myself. I have two hired hands, but they are pretty much labor. I have had them doing most of the dirty work like tearing the old bathroom out, crawling under the house and whatever.

Day #1....tore up the walls. Found small panels and LOTS of cement behind wall.

Day #2....stripped second wall, pulled up floor. Used trim from the doorway to fix most of the floor. Added several brace boards. Pulled out tub.

Day #3....finished floor, have toilet ready to place.

Day #4 (today)....put up half the walls. I have a 12 ft. ceiling so I had to use multiple sheets. I have most of the seems near the bottom and they will be covered with this panel stuff and bathtub...after using mud and all. It should be hard for me to find them. Got the toilet installed...yeah, no more block away gas station trips.

I am going to install a metal bar by the toilet and one next to the new tub for my father when he is over here. (I might start taking care of him in the near future.) Other then that...pretty basic stuff.

I like the vent I am putting in...it has both an overhead light and a nightlight.

Hope to finish it this weekend...but that depends on some uncontrollable factors.

Thanks again everyone. Was hoping to mail everything out today, but it looks like it will be tomorrow.

Got the plumbing done yesterday, the shower now inside the wall, and more sheetrock up. Should finish all the walls and get started on taping and mudding today. Decided to go with a light tan/light brown paint. Not sure what to do on a shower curtain bar yet...maybe will hang from the ceiling.

Alright, sheetrock done, and new tub installed. The tub would have fit perfectly...but since I took down the extra wall/s it created a little dead space. Was hoping to have it taped now...but no luck. A lot of work to do, but it is finally looking like a bathroom.

Removed the old ugly medicine cabinet from wall. Will use an old mirror instead.

The vent I am putting in has a light and a nightlight. Wonder what use the nightlight will be....12 ft. in the air?

Last couple days of work....

Finished taping and mudding...installed light

Did most of the sanding, have electic done, started sections of backwash, and bottom panel stuff...not sure what they call that, Hope to finish paneling trim, backwash, maybe cut the hole for vent today....still need to clean up and repaint old trim and window.

Still willing to sell anything from any of the prior links....please send offers.

I have now also decided to redo the back room, including adding a new energy saving stacking washer and dryer,...and to redo the back porch and extend it. So I might wait a week on painting the bathroom...and do the backroom/basement stairway at the same time.

Alright...put together vanity and faucett. The bath room fixtures match the light pretty well...a bell and bar look. I am adding a couple safety bars (for my dad) which will extend the look a little. Nice large sink. Two people could wash their hands at the same time.

I now claim my living room back! (well...most of it.)

I bet I can find some funky bell & bar thing for the wall on ebay...

How about I make a shadowbox and put an assortment of antique bells in it. Like an old bike bell, a cow bell, and various types. And maybe an antique servant bell by the toilet? Too cheesy?

Backsplash is all in now, and panels are glued in. I decided to not put up one end on the backspalsh, and used a flat piece instead. Didn't want to highlight the dead space. I will likely build a little box there at a slight angle. So water can drain off...and so I can stand on it to mess with the blinds...maybe...

Will clean the edges on the panel stuff and the like tomorrow with touchup glue spots. Scraped the old trim, need to do a little sanding on them before I repaint them.

Next step chaulking, chaulking and a little more chaulking.

Hopefully you have added a vapor barrier. I would have used the green mold resistant drywall esp aroung the tub area.

Have pretty large stacks of both and all years, except maybe 1987 abd 1989 Topps Baseball, maybe only about 20 of them.

Yeah...have some sealant stuff also. This is really a little over my ability but it appears I am getting it done. I wish I would have taken before photos. It was really trashed. They had cut into two walls to put the tub, had a victorian tub shower kit installed, and didnt vent it or protect the walls or anything. The floor was falling apart.

Also I am thinking of getting one of the wrap around shower curtain the hospitals use and I actually usually take long baths anyway. I just hated the way it looked. Showers need to be in wall. The house was built in the 1930s so it really needed replaced/updated.

I found some really cheap help and I have purchased a lot of cheap lumber and the like from the Spirit salvage. Spirit bought out Boeing here locally and now does Boeing and other work. Seems to have worked out well for all parties, although the workers get a paid a little less. I have been buying a ton of scrap wood from crates and the like...but I guess I need more now.

Hope to continue working on everything as long as I can afford material. On a run now....but the bathroom really has me maxed out.

Still, in the five years since I owned it, I replaced all the major doors, the ac/heater, installed a dishwasher, fenced the property, made a couple garden areas, planted a couple trees, cut the really really big tree from a major ice stom, and now the bathroom, plus a million other little things. If I can complete that porch and the back room I will have fixed all the major stuff...and will have average about a major project a year.
