Now for the underrated/undervalued cards..

1) Drew brees - Most of his cards are very affordable. Without injury, he will finish in the top 5 passing yards and td's all-time, maybe the top 3. One more Super Bowl victory and boom!!!

2) 90's autograph basketball rookie cards of superstars/hof. really cheap. can get shaq autograph rookies cheaper than John Wall auto rookies, huh????? (Shaq, Nowitzki, Allen, Pierce, Garnett, Nash, Duncan, etc, etc)

3) Jim Kaat - Should be in the HOF already, but will be soon. Hard to get a 9 of his rookie.

4) Tommy John - when they name an operation after you and you win 275 games, you should be money.

5) Paul Konerko - not a household name, but great production, a couple more good seasons, should get him to 500 hr's

6) Kurt Warner - if he can get the rams and the cardinals to the Super Bowl, is he not the best QB of all-time??? Seriously though, great story, great guy, great qb!!

7) Jim Thome and Ivan Rodriguez - the production of their cards has hurt them, but if you can get a BGS 10 rookie, I would snap it up. Sure fire HOF's and IROD may be the best catcher of all-time

Those are a few. Responses please.

Football - I agree on Warner and I still say Peyton Manning...dude is best all time when it is all said and done

Basketball - Kevin Durant - will continue to move up also Dr J cards are undervalued IMO

Baseball - where the heck do I start? How about the last guy to win a triple crown and for a beloved team like the Red Sox - Yaz

Hockey - I have no clue, I don't follow the sportscard market for Hockey enough to know

Golf - Just about anything vintage of Hagen, Jones, Morris and Vardon are seriously undervalued, but hey I am GOLFCOLLECTOR

    Tim Duncan

Most undervalued cards of any player in any sport

Sometimes I think that if he was more of a douchebag like Iverson, he'd attract a lot more attention and his card values will go up

He's a 12-time all star, 2-time MVP, 3-time Finals MVP, all star game MVP, one of the best defensive players of the era, 4-time NBA champ, and the best power forward of all time.

But he has some downright tough rookies that can be had for very little.

  • I always find these polls interesting as I rarely agree with much of whats posted. I will stick with undervalued and will rise in price (ie the card sells for less than it should) for my list vs its a huge difference from being an underrated player (ie the public does not see how great they really are).

Brees- I think his value is spot on maybe a bit overpriced, I think he has a very outside shot of the HOF, it would take the Saints going to the Super Bowl two more times at least or him winning 3 more MVP awards. Thats the only way for his rookie card to go up in value. Another couple good seasons will not cut it.

90's Auto basketballs stars, I think the old guys are priced fairly well I just think everyone is crazy for the prices of new rookies autos. The chance that ones becomes the next Jordan are soo slim, paying big money for any of them is a losing prop. Just look at all the $20 rookie cards from 5 years ago in the $1 bins at shows today.

Jim Kaat- might get a tiny bump in rookie card if he gets in HOF but thats it, I dont see his cards in PSA 7-9 doing anything but go down.

Tommy John- Same as Jim Kaat, prices going down

Paul Konerko - Needs to do much more, prices go up when records or someone is better than the rest, I just dont see it here, solid player

Jim Thome and Ivan Rodriguez - Go read the thread about the 84 Donruss Carters and Mattingly, I would be selling these like yesterday. Way too many out there.

Waner- While I like him a lot and think he was hugely underated, I dont see his cards going up other than a slight bump when he gets in the HOF.

Peyton Manning- I prolly agree in that the longer he plays the more his card could go up as he has a chance to break every QB record except for the one that counts the most (super bowl victories), I do think he needs another 2 MVP's to cement his future as the best ever regular season QB. Rewritting the record books with do his card values good.

Kevin Durant - I like the kid and am just not sure he will be the best, great yes but to get his cards to follow Jordan he has to play a lot better and be a champ.

Dr. J- Im mixed on this one, I think babyboomers reliving their past could cause many to pickup his card and raising the values, on the other hand the hoodlums playing b-ball right now make the game much less appealing and can bring down values.

Golf- Pretty undervalued but needs a Tiger comeback or the next great one to step up, betting on rookies is the same risk as any other sport just a lot cheaper.

Hockey- I dont see any going up other than rookie speculation, Crosby is a sure fire HOFer but thats already priced into his card.

Tim Duncan- Amazing Player but his cards will never go up other than slight HOF bump, most will go down.

Ok thats everyone elses so only fair I pick a few and feel free to pick them apart, haha.

Big Ben- I think because of the whole rape thing his cards are down and rightly so but if he wins in two weeks and if by chance they get to another one his cards will go up based on 4 super bowls. I remember how much Montanas rookies went up when he got to his 4th, it would put him in very elite company. Hes with a team that can could get him 5 then his card would go way up.

Jim Thorpe- Every time we get a player who excels in two sports (Bo Jackson, Deon Sanders, who will be next) his name comes up, his cards are very scarce in the first place so any new people wanted them causes them to go farther up.

Hank Aaron- I think when he passes we will see a real bump in prices, he was such a class act both durring his career and after, when hes gone people will want something to remember him by.

Ali- Same as Aaron with a whole lot less cards to pick from.

On all the new players I think its really going to be the next player who can transend his sport the way Jordan, Tiger, Gretsky did in that they are famous to people who do not even watch the sport, the only person I think with an outside shot is Crosby right now but he needs 15 more amazing seasons, a few more cups and not sure his body will hold up.

I always thought Eddie Matthews and Juan Marichal were underrvalued. Matthews was overshadowed by Aaron and Juan by Mays/McCovey on the same team and being in the same league as Koufax.

Dave, I am the biggest KD homer but I recently sold pretty much all my KD rookies. Lots of Topps Chrome Refractors in BGS/PSA Gem Mint holders, Topps Finest Refractors, and other serial numbered rookies. I sold 1/2 of them 6 months too early but really think they will lose some luster as new guys like Blake Griffin/John Wall/Ohio State kid, and other young guys come into the league and steal the spotlight. I get Beckett monthly and always like to look at the 1 yr, 5 yr, and 10 year cards on the "Hot List". It really is amazing how little market presence most of those cards have now. Anyway I hope he wins some rings and makes me regret moving them too early!

Disagree about Brees having to go to another 2 Super Bowls to get into the Hall of Fame. He is putting up crazy numbers year in and year out on yardage, TDs, pass completions and if he has another 5 or 6 solid seasons as stated he will be top 5 in yardage and TDs and he will be in the HOF. I am not a fan of Brees at all, I agree his cards are probably a little overpriced right now though and honestly don't see his cards going up much even if he goes into the hall of fame.

I think that basketball autographed cards of older players is indeed an underpriced area, rookie or otherwise....and as a bonus you can for the most part actually read the signature. al.

I think the performance and following of a retired players team can bring up the value. Gibson and the cardinals

Very true, Andre Dawson auto photos were going for $4 each prior to his election. Now they run about $20-$30 each.

Muhammad Ali is always going to go for strong prices and even more so in the future...........limited product and overall mass appeal.
