I am amazed that there are so many tight lipped eBay seller forumates that are not admitting, "Houston, we have a problem in type slabbed coinsville."
Well??? Anyone????
I just bought a 1904 IHC MS64RB in a PCGS OGH for $87 recently.

I guess we value this coin differently. The ebay buyer paid $80 with postage, assuming that no other coins were included to defray the postage, and that to me for this coin was quite a bit considering the large obverse spot on the piece. I would not have paid that much for this particular example.

In this economy, I think most things, especially those purchased with expendable income, is a buyers market.

    I agree with TomB.

At Coinfest of 2010, I easily sold a spot-free PCGS MS63 RB 1883 Indian Cent to a dealer. But only one dealer would make an offer on my NGC MS65 RB 1881 Indian Cent. Independently of each other, several dealers kindly explained to me that they simply cannot sell copper with carbon spotting. (One of these gentlemen was Rick Snow, and the spotting on my coin, in my view, was nowhere near as apparent as the coin linked by the op.) I happily took the offer on the 1881.

I kind of see where you're comin' from, I think, Goldbully.

True, it has a spot on the obverse, and it's the most common date, but otherwise that would have seemed perhaps a rather modest price for a slabbed IHC with that much red, at least to me.

I don't think the buyers thought it had $140.00 worth of eye appeal.

Admit it that is a ugly coin. And it might of looked a lot better when it was slabbed.

RB is a tough area, because coins vary so much in perceived quality. The price seems in line with other NGC coins. Two other common dates in the same grade recently hammered for $70 on Teletrade. I'd guess recent Heritage results are in same area. That said, some nicer examples in PCGS plastic sold for $110 and $120 on Teletrade, so again, for RB especially, the perceived quality of the coin is always going to matter a lot.

As always, one or two data points mean lilttle to nothing.

You have to admit that your example is probably one the
easiest IHC's to come by in any grade and there are tons of high grade 07's available. So I don't think the coin is that under priced
more like just on the low end of the price range for that date?
Give the laziest man the toughest job and he will find the easiest way to get it done.

Approx 50% Red-Brown. 1 or 2 obv spots. Not all that flashy. Mottled/spotty reverse. Is that greenish stuff around the "OF" on the obverse?

What can you get for one of these raw, $30-$50?
