OPC baseball fans - 1978 Set Is my Eddie trimmed?

Been wanting this for awhile, any other OPC collectors out there?

sorry for the bad pic

**********Hey guys, the set just arrived and the Eddis Murray card is just a bit thinner than the other cards. I'm hoping for some advice. Would this be a trim job? There is a couple of other cards, common in the same shape. Or would this be the classic OPC cutting? Thank you.

    Nice!
    It's a great set, I think I've got a few sitting around.

I collect OPC baseball packs. I hope to finish off a PSA 9 run of the '70s soon.

Did you just get those 9 cards or a whole set? Collecting OPC can be a better challenge (and more fun) than the regular issue.

I've been trying to complete the '79 set for a while.
Yeah, I uploaded that KC icon in 2001
  • The whole set, the 9 were just a sample. I was lucky enough to pick them up for under $50. I agree i been having a blast putting these sets together. About 10 years ago i bought 6 boxes of 1991 and have yet to complete that set, so even the more recent one's are hard to complete. I did come across a factory set of 91 though. I think i will work on 77 next

OPC packs may be the next stage, thats a great idea.

I am working on raw 77, 78, 79, 80, 82 sets. At some point, I will just buy the 81, 83, and 84 sets complete or have some fun cracking boxes. I dont have many duplicates of any of the years I am working on. If you have any of those years, please let me know what you have!

hi andy nice pick up i think we were both bidding on the same set as i had the 2nd high bid i think you got a great deal the only card that worried me was the ryan was miscut a little to much for me...i have been collecting opc sets and hall of famers for many years...good job...terryimage
  • Thanks Terry!! Sorry i sniped ya, lol. I was really stoked to get this set at this price. With OPC o/c doesn't bother me as much as some brands. For those collect 83 OPC, the Gwynn rookie is impossible to find north to south centered.

I read the that BB card exchange has just bought some OPC sets and he has some early 80's unopened material.

As for the 81 set i bought one from Martin sports 10-12 years ago that was listed exmt but turned out avg VG, so i gotta find one of those

These are fantastic sets! I used to own the #1 ranked '79 OPC set, but had to sell it off. I hope to put together another '79 set, as well as a '78 set one of these days.

yeah i have 2 1977 and 1978 sets i am trying to finish up along with a 1966 which is tuff
  • Wow, 1966. how are you getting along with that one? I had a chance to pick the Mantle up in psa 3 about 2 yrs back but skyrocked out of my price range.
The 65 is my alltime favorite, but is just to pricey and too time consuming for me.

the sets i have been putting together are raw sorry about that as far as opc stars most are graded but the only graded set i tried to put together was the 1973 opc but it just became to hard and it was to large of a set...i decided to collect the hall of famers in graded form and some in raw...i love the opc cut as some people dont..but i do and i also like thats they are much harder to find...i think the other person who has a great 1973 opc set is grote as i know at one time we were both up there but i sure hes close to getting that set done now as i gave up...i was lucky about 6 years ago to pick up half a wax case of 1973 opc baseball and i was hooked...

Just curious, do you recall how much that 66 Mantle PSA 3 sold for?

I'm pretty sure it was for about $225. It was a sweet 3, if i remember correctly it did have a stain qualifier, and without that would of been higher. I was in it for $100-125.

** Would anyone know the smr prices on the 66 Mantle, If so could you post them, thanks in advance.
