Looking at different Gold Buillion bars....

I apologize for asking such a newb question....but Is there really much value in purchasing a Pampe suisse bar versus a perth mint bar in 1 oz?
Seems there are different premiums between the various issuers.

Trying to go for value with the least premium.

Or is worth it to pay $40 more for a gold American Eagle?

I do prefer the Perth one. Thogh, you can't go wrong with any of those.
In the US the AGE will sell better but Pamp and Perth are well recognized brands.

As a collector, or as an investor?

As a collector: Collect what you like.

As an investor: I agree with lowest premium but keep an eye down the line to when/if you plan on selling. Consider where you are. What are people most interested in owning? If you're in rural Nebraska, a Perth mint bar or a Pamp Suisse might not sell very well. If you're in Europe, gold eagles might not be the best choice.

Here in the Midwest US, gold eagles make sense. Quarter eagles make even more sense if they can be bought at or very near melt.
