How would you describe yourself as a collector?
How would you describe yourself as a collector?
1 - Passive - You collect sometimes, but sometimes you could care less and you stop for a while. Maybe you move on to other things.
2 - Focused - You are passionate about collecting, but you are focused. You are constantly searching for that elusive card, but if the price is too high, you are reasonable and will wait if you can't afford it.
3 - Erratic - You love collecting, but you can't stick to one theme. You buy anything and everything with no rhyme or reason. You are just as proud of that non sports card as you are of your Mickey Mantle card.
4 - Insane - Collecting is a disease and you can't control yourself. You will pay anything for that card you want no matter if it breaks you or not. Of course, if you can afford it, then I would not part yourself in this category.
Me - I would say number 2.
What say you?

What he said.
Edited to add: Sorry, I misread the question, I thought it was "How do you compare yourself to other golfers?". My apologies.

Agreed, I get tangential at times.
My small collection
Want List:
'61 Topps Roy Campanella in PSA 5-7
Cardinal T206 cards
Adam Wainwright GU Jersey
I have not stopped collecting since October of 1970 when I bought my first packs of 1970 Topps at Woolworths
I never stopped even during my late teen years while dating
I guess you could say collecting is my life. There are worse things I could be doing.

<< <i>I would say #2... However, it took me a couple of years to get focused. If you would have asked me a few years ago, when I first got back into collecting, I would have been a solid #3. >>
Describes me perfectly.
Also, I reserve the right to become a #4 at some point in the future.
Anyone have any 1963 Bazooka All-Time Greats graded a 7 or better? Currently #4 all time best set.

Always looking for Mantle cards such as Stahl Meyer, 1954 Dan Dee, 1959 Bazooka, 1960 Post, 1952 Star Cal Decal, 1952 Tip Top Bread Labels, 1953-54 Briggs Meat, and other Topps, Bowman, and oddball Mantles.
Currently collecting 1934 Butterfinger, 1969 Nabisco, 1991 Topps Desert Shield (in PSA 9 or 10), and 1990 Donruss Learning Series (in PSA 10).
I fit no perimeters and have stopped collecting traditional sports cards. My apetite for exotic and rare is insatiable. I am obsessive about knowing everything about soccer cards in the world (and do).
... I would hate be called a number two ... potty-wise.
I would say a solid 2.
I do stray a bit from time to time - but all and all I stay on a yearly budget and on focus.
I havent subscribed to psa for years, ebay searches are pretty infrequent now days. But I still check sites like the BBC Exchange (and get excited about new boxes I dream of buying....like their $20,000 68 topps hockey box). New things like that keep me interested in the hobby. Or new finds.
Plus other hobbies have pulled me away...1980's GI Joe, Nintendo. And other toys, and memorabilia.
