This ought to raise some eyebrows, but it probably won't. The pot continues to heat up while the frog doesn't notice...

Richard Russell on China...

It is about time the USA stops Kow Towing to Imperial China

and starts doing what is good for the USA and our own people.

We built up prewar Japan, Germany and Russia and look at the cost

in blood and material to nutralize them in WW2 and the Cold War.Will

this Nation every learn the lessons of history. When will the rush for short

term gain be replaced with long term common sense.

I think we will see that day yet, I'm sorry to say.
Russell has some good points but I'm afraid the Chinese want to be #1 in everything. Including the military. The PLA is a very important part of Mao's aphorism that power grows out of the barrel of a gun. And they are very proud of the fact that they have never lost a war. Including what we call the Korean War.

Those aircraft carriers they are building as well as the fleet which paid 'courtesy calls' to Pearl Harbor, Vancover, and San Diego several years ago convinced me that we are no way gonna stand in the Straits of Taiwan when the Peoples's Republic decides that it is time to re-unify that renegade province with the homeland. Nor Korea. Nor any other country that belonged to the Middle Kingdom during the times of its greatest expansion. That would include all of what we call Southeast Asia. The PRC calls them 'the historic boundaries of China". Guess who's opinion is gonna prevail.

Remember next time you're in WalMart that Chinese stuff isn't inexpensive, it's just cheap. And often counterfeit to boot, but the profits are so large and the penalty if caught so small........remember the saying that went something like " When it comes time to hang the capitalists, they will be fighting amoung themselves to see who can sell us the rope. " ?

Correct. It's now a communist dictatorship.

What is communist about China these days? It's an authoritarian one-party state but it has not been communist for quite some time. Perhaps we could say CINO ( Communist in name only).

Maybe Bear's comments are more to the point of the matter than I originally perceived.

    ChiCo works for me.

It's true that it's not your Mao's China.

It can become something much worse when they become top dog in everything and tell us to stfu.
