LINCOLN PROOF REGISTRY 1936-1958

I just saw that my additions put me in 1st place as the all time finest PCGS Early Lincoln Proof Collection. THAT IS SUCH A JOKE!!!
I have collected Lincolns since 1983. I have collected uncirculated and proof cents for the sole purpose of completion at a price I could afford. I currently own every Lincoln including all the major errors with the exception of the 1909VDB Matte Proof. I have slabbed all the more expensive coins with PCGS. I love my collection, but it will NEVER be close to the finest. It is a kick to me that for at least a few minutes my early proof Lincolns are shown as #1. I truely respect all the people who have built or are building a top grade set of these very beautiful proof Lincolns, especially those who have some in Cameo or DCAM. I know that as the weeks and months proceed, there will be many more of these Lincoln proofs in this category being registered. Whether I wind up in 10th or 25th position eventually, I am still VERY proud of my coins. Good luck to all of you in reaching your goals too. Steve

In God We Trust.... all others pay in Gold and Silver!
You know how I feel about you old friend. That is OK,I'm still working on my set.I'll get mine complete one day.I do plan on haveing my set pedigreed only because of the 1937 PR66 CAM.Since it was the first to receive that designation.I know it is vain, but I'd like to be remembered for at least one thing in Numismatics.Just a blue collar worker who got lucky!!! Your 1936 like WhiteFang's gives you the juice. With a weight of (8),it will keep you in first for a while.
Don't blink or I'll be there one day.LOL!!!!

My choice of what makes up a complete set is obviously arbitrary, but it satisfies me. I will add to "my list" the 1936 satin version of the proof, solely because of this PCGS set registry. It may be tough to get, but this is a good example of how marketing by PCGS can sometimes change a collectors perspective. Of course there are the 1943 copper cents out there to be collected also. And Ray, you also mentioned the other 1909 varieties and errors. That s over horizontal s has always interested me, but somehow I've never persued it. By the way, PCGS has body bagged 14 of my Lincolns in the past four years, a few of them 2 and 3 times.
I'm sure you guys have other perspectives on this series. I just hope to see it celebrate its 100th anniversary. Steve

I felt the same way when I registered my set a week or so ago, and it showed up as #1. It's because for less-than-complete sets, just having the coins in any grade carries far more weight than having a less complete set in a higher grade. High grades only become important when comparing complete sets. I'm sure there will soon be some complete sets that will knock your socks off. Right, Don?

You can count on it.I will complete my set someday.Stay tuned for updates.LOL!!!
