That doesn't look like the same card.

I was looking at the blue line/dot in the bat to the left of the name......do you see it? It doesn't matter...I want to crack out all my cards and sell them raw too.......carry on
  • OAKESY25OAKESY25 Posts: 4,726 ✭✭✭
I concur.. not the same card
  • handymanhandyman Posts: 5,394 ✭✭✭✭✭
How did he discribe the card when sold????
Did he lie about it being graded or what?
  • handymanhandyman Posts: 5,394 ✭✭✭✭✭
Seems fine obviouw MC and decent corners not sure if authentic but Looks fine to me.
  • bobbyw8469bobbyw8469 Posts: 7,139 ✭✭✭
No...he didn't lie per se. Other than saying he had decent centering.......the market for raw cards seems to be alot stronger than graded cards that's for sure. What I was looking at in the two cards was the blue mark in the bottom of the card where the "remote controls" were. Maybe it isn't the same card.......

Not to change the conversation of it being a different card....but why wouldn't someone want to crack out a PSA5(MC)?

The card on the right has a tilt; the one on the left does not.

What about the left to right centering? He changed that too?

    The color?

    Good for you.

He clearly trimmed off what was left of the top border and glued it to the right side to change the centering. How obvious does it have to be for you Steve?

    Bobby

The blue mark is due to registration. Yes they are similar.

However, the card has different centering and color.

Yesterday when you first posted this I was going to reply:

I'm not sure of your point here. I still am not.

    What exactly is your point?

    Good for you.
  • Look, it's clearly not the same card....the top border of the slabbed one has more border to it....as anyone would say....buy the card, not the holder....if someone is going to pay you more for a RAW card....then that's on them....as long as you describe the flaws as best as possible to them...and don't hide anything...
  • MULLINS5MULLINS5 Posts: 4,517 ✭✭✭
I know nothing about this card but there are some (like the 1987 OPC Mike Bossy #105) which have print spots...the Bossy has a pink spot on the right border on almost every single one I've seen.

No, because some print defects are not unique to a single card. Thought everyone had run into that.

heh - anyone remember the Joe Theismann pencil sharpener on Letterman? IIRC, it was part of a "bad Christmas gifts" bit that he did many moons ago. He also had a Don King yule log and a drooling baby salad dressing dispenser.

Bobby assumed a seller was pulling a Great Lakes MO, who has an established history of cracking PSA slabs and selling raw, with the Mantle pictured above.

At first glance, the cards look similar but the tilt is pretty obvious. If he took 1 minute to look at the top right corners, this thread wouldn't have seen the light of day, IMO.
So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts
