It seems as if the one date missing from two sets of
"V" Nickels is the 1893 !!
Couldn't locate a nice 58 - and the weakly struck 58 in a PCGS holder
that recently sold for $431 at another Heritage auction really threw me.
The next day a dirtier [ read: crustier ] ANACS 58 sold for $ 115.
Here's my newp:
Oh, the price: $322.

In AU58, that date is the 4th most scarce according to PCGS Pop. 1893 is Pop 17, only trailing 1888, 1889, and 1890 with 15, 11, and 14 respectively.
Incidently, I'm missing all 4 of those dates. We may have to make a few more.
Thanks for all your help, Dwayne.
I really prefer PCGS graded coins - and want a MS AU 58.
Anyone have a lead on a nice 1893 Nickel ???

If any one is going to be at Long Beach - and they have an 1893 Nickel in PCGS 58 -
please stop by Holsonbake Numismatics - and tell Glenn that the coin is for Mike Hayes.
He'll act as my personal representative and pay you.
Thanks !!

Heritage 64
Saw a very poorly struck 1893 Nickel on Teletrade
in a PCGS 55 holder - quite a few of the OBV stars
are flat - and the REV isn't too well struck either !
So... still looking !!

Thanks, Guys. Sorry I have not gotten back to this Thread.
Work's been a real SOB. I decided to keep my V Nickel set
but also have consigned my duplicates along with my Barbers
to Heritage for the Chicago ANA.
The 1893 in 58 that is available for bidding on 4/10 [ tomorrow ]
doesn't quite make it for me - its a lousy strike - and I may just
have to wait for a better one shows up.
... and no... I don't want a better graded one ... but thanks for thinking of me !!

My set is finally complete. Thanks again to all
who've PM'd me with leads.
