OT: Scanner Software Adjustment Question

What is the name of the adjustment in scanner software
that adjusts the height/width ratio of a scanned PSA slab?

Somebody played with my settings and the scanners - two different
ones - are now distorting that ratio. The height is shrunk and the
width is too wide.

    Ahha.

    I got it.

    "Aspect Ratio" is the name of the adjustment feature.

    I just got the Canon Canoscan 9000F, not a cheap machine but SWEEEEET scans if anyone needs a new scanner it's highly recommend.

    anyone know what setting "Unsharp mask" does? Also, do people use auto exposure type document or photo?

    I'm going to state this poorly, but that setting is designed to help magazine-style pictures (the 'dot matrix style, if you will) look smoother. When applied to photos, like cards, it tends to do the opposite.

    it appears that unsharp mask is always "on" as a setting, should it be off? I am not sure why the box is checked

    In my software, it's coupled to whether I choose Color Photo or Color Document. It's always unchecked for photos and checked for documents
