FE Experts..Is this an 1858/7 overdate?...PCGS grade is in.

Update***Feb 24th, 2011...PCGS XF45 1858/7***

In the first picture, the broken wing tip and the 'dot' in the field above the "85" are in the right place and very evident.

So far so good.

In the second pic however, I'm barely seeing the overdate "7".

I realize the "7" is always faint, but all I can see of the "7" is just the upper right hand corner, visible as a short diagonal line and it's quite far from the "8".

What do you think?

Broken wing tip at the rim -
    sure gives it away.

The die dot inbetween the date and
the Eagle's belly is another dianostic.

    Nice XF 45 details, IMHO.

Thanks everyone...I'm convinced it's an overdate.

I also checked the pics on Heritage and there's one in their archives, an xf45 or au50, which is an exact duplicate of mine.

    I agree it's a late die state.

Yes! I think the diagnostic, from memory, is the die lump above the date. However, PCGS, as I understand it, will not attribute it without evidence of the overdate. A friend of mine just sent a late dies state in and it came back as a normal coin. On his, however, there was no evidence of the overdate. Yours appears to have evidence of it so I would day congratulations are in order.
