Question on DMPL Morgans

Hey all, answer a dumb question for me. I ought to know this becasue I don't recall ever seeing one, but do circulated grades, ie/AU58/55 etc, get the DMPL designation when they get certified???? I ask becasue I obtained an 86S in a SEGS 61DMPL holder a while back that I thought was decent for the grade, and actually cracked it out and put it in my album. Later I got to looking at it and thought it might cross to a 62 or at least stay a 61 or at worse become a 60 at pcgs. Well I submitted it and it came back an AU58?!?!?! I couldn't believe itimageimageimage I don't really mind losing the MS grade as the coin is weakly struck and has a lot of hairlines in the DMPL fields, but is definately a DMPL but didn't get the designationimageimage When I saw the results posted I emailed Rick and ask if someone could review it again, and never heard anything back from him. It's really a pretty coin, and although for this date I would rather have had a MS one if even just a 61 or 62 if the eye appeal was right. I guess I will settle for now with an AU, just wish it hadn't lost the DMPL designation. I have seen 62's and even 63's that didn't have the eye appeal of this coin, so I am not unhappy with the coin, just the circumstance. I guess I'll add it to my registry set and lower my average a little moreimageimage

Edited to say no more did I get this written did I get an email from Rick saying he missed it before it shipped out and if I wanted to send it back to him for review he would review itimage If circulated Morgans (if in fact it is circulated, I would argue the point) get PL or DMPL designations, it's on it's way backimage

It is not uncommon for SEGS to grade a slider coin or a lightly wiped or cleaned coin MS61 or MS62, I would not trust any grade assigned by SEGS. Unfortunately, regarding your coin, all the eye appeal in the world won't make an AU coin MS.

I believe that both NGC and ANACS will give circulated coins a PL or DMPL designation but I'm not sure if PCGS will, at least I've never seen a PCGS circulated piece with a PL or DMPL designation.

Yep, your right Dragon. No PL or DMPL for any coin under MS60image Oh well.....I thought about sending it back for Rick to review, but don't think I will now. I've already taken a $200 coin and made it a $50 coin so I may call well enough aloneimageimage No more SEGS, or PCI's for me, no doubt about itimage
