OT: Everyone should opt of this public record site:

All,
I wanted to pass along a public records website that everyone should opt out of.
www.spokeo.com
Go there, search yourself and find your listing. Click on your name and copy the URL.
On the bottom right of the page, click privacy. Paste the URL, your email and type in the security code shown.
It will send an email to the email you provide with a link to confirm. Click the link in the email and it will delete the profile. I did this last night for myself, my wife and my parents and they were already gone within hours (possibly quicker).

Please pass along.
Looking to have some custom cuts or plain custom cards built? PM me.

Funny, I just opted out last night. It is amazing how easy it is to find information out about people these days. Although most of the information they provide is public record anyway.

    Thanks for the heads up!

Yea, I know, but i figured, why not take 1 minute and make it slightly less easy for people to find.

One of the records they had was very out of date for me... being a house my parents sold in 1988.

    Thanks for the link.

I attempted to send it in and got this message:

I heard about this site last night and just went on and was able to track down my uncle who I hadn't talked to
since I was 10 when my dad died (27 yrs ago) and I had been looking online for years with limited information..
found him in 2 minutes and called his # and he answered.. was pretty amazing..
plan on staying in touch and finding out about my dad who I never got the chance to really know

Usually these things are hoaxes or bad websites, but this one is for real. I realize all of the information on this website is public domain, but I've never seen it so quickly accessible, all on one site.

I opted out of it (in two places), and I emailed it to my family and friends. Thanks for posting it!

  • Thanks for looking out for your fellow man!

Wow, thanks for the link. I took my wife and I off the site.

After those four National League games, Gorman Thomas was never the same, and neither were the Brewers, and come to think of it neither was I.

  • Thanks for the useful info
From what I can tell, 707 is the DOLLAR STORE compared to deans_cards. For what that guy charges, if I ever bought anything from him I would expect it to be delivered to me in a frickin' limo.

Knocked myself, the wife and the kids off of there about a year ago. There are dozens of sites like this out there, however, and more springing up. It's like trying to patch the mashed potatoes when the gravy starts running out.
  • Horrible! Why aren't there laws against this? They should rename the site, spooky.com. That's what it is. It tells you your age, marital status, how much your house is worth??

Perfect, in this age of internet nutballs.

    I keep getting this error:

We could not locate a directory listing for the URL provided.

Is there something wrong with this URL?

    http://www.spokeo.com/search?q=marc schoenen

Not sure how a URL should properly treat the space between first and last name
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.
