Who had fun at FUN?!? (EVEN MORE pics added!)

I sure did! First off, I met with PCGS's very own Don Willis (a shout out to Don) who is absolutely the friendliest and nicest person to deal with. PCGS is now in the process of slabbing my best 145 Palestine Mandate coins for the new 'Jerusalem Collection' (all 145 coins come with Trueview images (Don, you ARE the BEST!). We also discussed my collection of Potosi coinage (more on that later). BJ Searles (who is also very nice) asked me to send her the list of Palestine so that she can create the new Registry set and to also forward her my inventory of Bolivia so that she can begin to do the same.
The Tampa Convention Center is very nice and I wish that from time to time, the folks in charge of FUN would consider using this venue again! The weather was a bit cold for my taste but all of Florida is a bit on the chilly side at this time. I certainly was not dressed for the colder weather but, this did not slow me down (much)!
I was introduced to two dealers (the first, from Peru (Wednesday afternoon) and the second, from Bolivia (Friday at 6:00 PM)). I walked away from the show with a bounty of coins to add to my Bolivia collection. I would never have imagined that I would add a total of SEVEN, that's right, SEVEN coins to this collection! Now don't start thinking, 'Did Gary start filling holes in his book?' because that CERTAINLY WAS NOT THE CASE!!! With my 1813 FERDIN IIV 8 Reales error (Heritage NYINC sale), that makes EIGHT new pieces!
Having arrived home at 11:00 PM last night, I have not yet imaged my new acquisitions (they are forthcoming). They ARE however, SPECTACULAR!!!
This is/was absolutely a memorable show for me.
Who else made it to the show??? Stories???

I was there Thursday and Friday, Thursday I spent a large portion of the day in the World section. Picked up a ton of goodies, and met a few forum members in person for the first time. I really liked the Tampa venue, and for good reasons too. It's only 30 minutes from my office. My only gripe was that parking was not as plentiful as in Orlando...

1830 Bolivia 4 Soles, Moneda Feble (CH+ UNC) a pristine example of this (in)famous coinage!
Moneda Feble is Spanish for Weak Money (Debased Coinage). Bolivia suffered monetarily during most of it's infancy. Peru invaded in 1829, draining the Bolivian Treasury. President Andres Santa Cruz made a very unwise choice to produce this Moneda Feble. It eventually made it's way to Peru (who were also producing the same) causing that country even more problems with the rest of South America (which chose not to accept Peruvian coin). War between the two countries was inevitable as Peru tried (in vain) to get Bolivia 'on board' with the idea of recalling the bad silver. Bolivia's hesitation to do so while Peru tried it's best to call in and melt it's bad coin is just another saga in the colorful history of this landlocked (due to another war loss with Chile in the 1880's) Andean country!
Edited to add; 1830 Potosi (Debased) 4 Soles were produced in La Paz thru the 1850's (I believe) with a reverse type (above) that is distinguished by a flat design and well rounded area around the llamas.
1820 Potosi, Bolivia 8 Reales (UNC'ish) great surfaces and reflectivity!
1819 Potosi, Bolivia 8 reales (CH UNC) just a fantastic example of this hoard date, hands above what is normally encountered!
More to come!

I wish one could place NGC examples within PCGS sets etc. etc. ...maybe you could have that hurdle lifted/abolished now that you're so tight with Don
P.S. the photog's are just fine ....
And by the way... Nice Pickups Gary
Next up,
1818 Potosi, Bolivia 8 Reales (CH UNC) the line thru the date is, as made. Does not bother me as, the overall appearance is great!
Edited to add; the area above the portrait is raised, probably from a die break.

I give away money. I collect money.
I don’t love money . I do love the Lord God.
Very nice additions.
I love them all, but the FERDIN IIV is still my favorite.
Last on deck...
1813 Potosi, Bolivia 8 Reales CH+ AU (besides the IIV error, WHAT A TOUGH DATE)
1813 was the year that the rebel forces captured the Mint at Potosi and used it to produce the 1813 Rio de La Plata coinage (and in 1815 as well). That said, little time was available for the 1813, 1814 and 1815 Royal coinage to be struck! A rarity to begin with, the condition is the 'icing on the cake'! How the 1814 got struck in the first place is somwthing I will have to do a bit of research on!!!
And for good measure, Bill...
1813 Potosi, Bolivia 8 Reales error -- FERDIN IIV (NGC XF 45) Of the roughly 20 pieces known, this is Condition Census (no known UNC's)
Thanks again for looking and for the nice comments!
