I purchased an ungraded 86-87 Fleer basketball pack that turned out to be resealed and they ignored my complaint about it. I've bought several 80/81 Topps basketball boxes that were 100% legit. I bought a 1970 Topps Football pack graded by GAI from them that was resealed garbage. I've bought a bunch of modern boxes off them with no issues.
I no longer will purchase older unopened material from them due to my two bad experiences which is too bad for them since I spend 15-20k a year on unopened material. I would buy modern unopened or graded cards off them.
<< <i>I have never dealt with Dave and Adams card world on unopened boxes.Has anyone on this board had any experience with them. >>
I have dealt with Dave & Adams card world since the early 1990's , I wouldn't hesitate to do a deal with them and rate them just as high as Steve Hart at BBCE . jmho
In my defense, I started working at DACW in May 2004. For obvious reasons, I was not responsible for any unopened product prior to that date, plus over the next 12-18 months I was still selling off inventory that I inherited. In addition, from October 2007 through July 2008, we re-hired back the original person whom I replaced back in 2004. The person who I replaced and then worked with a few years later? His name is Keith Smith, who has also been an authenticator for unopened product at GAI over the years. I have lost track of Keith and believe he is out of the industry. I do know the individual who replaced me at DACW in January 2010, having worked with him for over a year at DACW, but can't comment on his knowledge or expertise because I've never seen him buy vintage unopened product before.
Steve's reputation is well known throughout the hobby. I don't think he would risk ruining his reputation by hiring me if he didn't think I knew what I was doing. I clearly do not have the same level of expertise that Steve possesses, but I'm fairly confident my opinions on unopened product are widely respected by Steve and by many dealers and collectors alike.
<< <i>I believe the director of purchasing from DAC is now the new man working with Steve at BBC exchange. Does this mean that anything from BBC exchange is suspect? >>
That's a hilarious comment! No, it means the new guy will gain mucho knowledge from Steve. I still believe DACW has great material, the GAI stuff they had with a few packs was suspect.
I bought a '77 vending box from them several years ago, when '77 vending was around $150 a box.
While I'm not accusing them of searching it, it was very suspect. The only gradeable card was a Bill Greif (it graded a 9). And only 2 stars in the entire box of 500.
My other complaint is that they use stock photos to sell their Topps sets. I was interested in a set once and asked if they could send me pics from the set itself. They said no, that they only use stock photos for their set auctions. Who in the world would buy a $300 set sight unseen? Not me.
So I haven't bought anything from them since that vending box.

Does this mean that anything from BBC exchange is suspect?
From an email exchange with this guy who is also a member on these boards it seems he will be a great addition to BBC exchange.
I know it's going to be tough!
