Survived the NYINC Snowstorm

which really did not amount to much, at least while I was in NYC.
I said hello to MrEureka. I did not run into 1960NYGiants or coinkat as I usually do. If I had checked my Forum messages, I could have said hello to Zohar.
Now, I do not know if Civitas was there today, but there was someone who looked like him, not wearing a Guest Pass. However, I saw this individual in the restroom where I would question the propriety of starting a conversation with someone who may be a stranger.

Met one of my goals in finally obtaining an example of a Commonwealth hammered. It was about time.
I thought that I would not find anything with my favorite medal vendor, but at the last moment, found a lovely medal commemorating St. Theresa and also a fine looking Charles IV Proclamation medal.
I finally purchased a medal from another vendor, Paul Bosco. This silver piece portrays not only Willem III, but also Queen Emma. Tried to get a better price on that one, but Paul would have none of that. Since the portraiture is quite fine and it portrays the queen as well as the king, I went ahead with the purchase.

The most unusual purchase is an early restrike of a 1618 medal commemorating Pedro Téllez-Girón, 3rd Duke of Osuna. I liked the horse on the reverse.

Two "failures." Still have not found a numismatic item for Pope Clement VI. I also was looking for some interesting pieces from El Salvador, for gift purposes, mostly. Not much of interest. I was somewhat outraged by one dealer, however, who kept his wares in some very cheap PVC flips. C'mon. This is 2011. Some of his coins showed recent PVC issues.

I will try to post photos this weekend.

When I was at CoinFest in 2009, I had a conversation about a dealer having uncirculated rolls of 1940s half dollars (US). Surprisingly it wasn't the strangest conversation I've ever had in a public restroom but it WAS the most hobby related. The way I see it, if you are going to be in there anyway, might as well talk about something fun, right? image (Actually I had just gone in to wash my hands before the show)

harasha - really unfortunate that we did not have a chance to meet in person. Should have planned in advance. I met Gene and Andy Lustig (at his happy hour - wine and cheese!). Good folks all over.

Purchased a few Talers for my Habsburg set. Will post later.

    Sorry I missed you harasha-

Zohar- did your name tag say Zohar?

I ask because I that I saw someone walking fast - talking on a cell phone and this guy was taller than me and I was going to say something but this person had the look of being on a mission and I did not interrupt

I saw MrEureka- helpful and pleasant as always

Saw NYGiants1960- shared stories, coins and I felt bad because I sent much time with submissions at the PCGS table- and I must say, I need to plan better next time and if never happens.

I will write a separate report- Considering the weather- I thought the crowd was good

Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.
