Ebay is the biggest joke on the net!

Hi - Just got off the phone with ebay customer service. What a joke! I received a card in the mail and it was in a pwe. I was charged $3 for s&h which seems to be the trend on ebay lately. Since I am sick of these sellers doing this I ding the crap out of their DSR on the seller's FB ( FB is the hugest joke now a days). Well dummy me left FB on a card I purchased just last night by mistake. After I realized I made this mistake I called ebay to try and have my FB removed on the card I had just purchased last night. Well since I didn't use curse words on my FB ebay refused to have it removed. I then explained to the stupid CSR what is to stop the seller from not mailing the card to me since I left FB on a card I had just purchased less then 24 hours ago? If I file a claim as INR I will more then likely loose the case because I left FB saying I received the card. Ebay still refused to remove the FB. WHAT A F-ing JOKE. I am sooooooo pissed off right now. I am seriously considering canceled my store on ebay and removed all my items.

So here I wasted my time with ebay CSR for 40 minutes on the phone to try and correct a mistake I made on their site. They refused to correct the mistake. WHAT A BUNCH OF BS. Ebay's customer service was horrible and not helpful at all. I am ready to go postal...

*end rant*

Is there anything I can do to fix this BS that ebay wont fix?

I know what you mean. I am sitting on so much stuff right now that I would like to sell but I hate how things have gotten with Ebay. I will probably sell everything I can on this board first and then go to Ebay as a last resort. The fraud and deception is so rampant.

Does it matter? 20 - 2,000 regardless the amount. The point is ebay refuses to correct any known mistakes on their FB system and they are not willing to work with customers who try to make things right.

I was at Walmart on Christmas Eve and noticed that I left my wallet in the car after ringing up groceries in the self-serve checkout line.

The cashier said I could go and get it from the car, but the greeter wouldn't let me back in because they had just closed.

Life, and eBay, are not fair.

I agree they should fix it, but maybe you could work with the seller to force their hand. You might have to pick up any fees he incurs, but you could probably "un-neg" him that way.

They still have to prove shipment. There's no issue here.

You can leave feedback and describe the item...say it was packaged well...will do business with again....and if the seller can not prove shipment, you just open a case with PAYPAL and win 100% of the time. PAYPAL can be weird all the way around.

Instead of blaming ebay, you ought to take responsibility for your own screw ups. Maybe slow down in the future and pay closer attention to what you're doing.

For one you might stop worrying about stuff like getting a card in a PWE but paying $3 for shipping. Does it REALLY matter? Do you really have nothing else going on in life that it matters? I wish I had the energy to worry about something so trivial.

In terms of your feedback left by accident I am sure you will get the card. I know I don't keep track of my feedback. I get paid, I send card. I think you are worrying for nothing.

In terms of poor customer service it's life so get used to it. Sucks but it's life.

Well, unless it turns out to be a board member who was the seller. Then we'll get a 10 page thread with the seller venting about getting the first neg in 10 years. <ducks>

On my OP I clearly said I made a mistake. I took full responsibility for my mistake. I don't know where me not taking responsibility for my mistake is coming from?

My rant is mainly because I wanted to and tried to fix my mistake. I really wanted to correct the situation with no help from ebay's crappy crustomer service. Do I blame ebay? Yes. They are clearly in the blame for not allowing something like this to be rectified...

Gotta agree - you made it clear from the start that you f'ed up. But EBay SHOULD be able to undo that. Given the importance they place on feedback, allowing your mistake to go uncorrected is a horrible failing on their part. That's why I suggested involving the seller too - this is going on his "record", right?

But the complaint about poor customer service from Ebay isn't valid. Ebay spent 40 minutes trying to tell him as nicely as possible that they won't remove feedback just because a buyer asks for it to be removed. That's their policy, they warn you about it prior to you clicking the feedback button, and if you're among the thousands of users who mess up one every day that's the way it is. Imagine Ebay having to listen to this for 40 minutes, along with the paranoia that the seller could now steal the card because he already received got feedback. Serenity now!
  • grote15grote15 Posts: 29,757 ✭✭✭✭✭
Before you leave feedback, it clearly states that once you leave feedback it cannot be edited or changed.

Could ebay CS be more helpful? Sure, but all this could have been avoided in the first place if you weren't so intent on retaliating against a seller for charging you $3 for sending a card in a PWE.

Maybe I'm old school, but at some point, we have to accept responsibility for our screw ups and move on, instead of ranting about ebay. Ebay has its shre of problems, to be sure, but this one was self-inflicted.

Does ebay still offer a mutual "feedback withdrawal" option?

I have given up on ebay FB.

The CS person will now be called into the boss's office and have to explain why her calls per hour rate has fallen off the charts.

They have minimums and standards they need to reach in order to be effective CS people and now her average time spent with customers has a big 40 minute goose egg.

But the best news is she's now winning the weekly pool for highest time on the phone call of the week. Good Job

ding ding ding, we have a winner. That's what I've done for over a year and makes thing much easier, I just delete items in my summary as they arrive safely and there are no problems. Have only had to leave one negative in that time period. If I was realistically leaving each person feedback as I receive an item, I don't want to give anything less than 5 stars cause that only will cause sellers to pay more in fees, which is going to eventually cost me more money and only ebay wins with more fees.

I totally agree. Not just directed at the poster but few people in life are willing to accept they do anything wrong. It's always blaming someone else. In this case, the poster clearly made a mistake and it is 100% his FAULT. Accept fault and move on!

Also, the seller can send you a feedback revision request. You can revise the feedback you left that way. I'm surprised that eBay CS didn't even mention that. Just contact the seller and have them send the request for feedback revision.

"The eBay feedback system sucks so I won't leave it anymore. That'll fix 'em." Two weeks later, "I've got six buyers that haven't left me feedback after I delivered their cards a week ago. What a joke!!!"

If eBay made exceptions and altered, changed, or deleted feedback by request, where would that leave them? They'd have to hire 500 CS specialists just to handle the influx of calls from people on these boards, let alone the general eBay populace.

Systems are in place for a reason. Whether we like them or not, they are there and we are supposed to be responsible enough to monitor our own actions to see that we don't make mistakes that CANNOT be corrected and mistakes that we were advised in ADVANCE will NOT be corrected.

I love EBAY. It has brought buyers and sellers together from all over the world. I have sold to Australia, Canada and all over the US.

I have purchased from sellers all over the US.

Without EBAY card trading would barely exist.

  • I wouldn't even worry about, you can still file a claim of SNAD and win and just send back an empty package if you don't receive the card matter of fact I believe you could still file as INR.

I remember one conversation with ebay CS and was told even if the customer leaves positive feedback it doesn't prove they received the item, that is on the seller to prove with a DC, of course if the seller is a scam artist they will just send you and empty package with a DC.

ebay CS sucks, but what else is new, I am surprised they haven't raised the FVF to 10 or 12 % the greedy dogs.

I can understand your frustration - but your OP title is a bit of hyperbole IMO.

I prefer to see the glass as half full - ebay is still a great place to find things that I would have to search for eons to find otherwise - I'm not talking about cards.

I agree with you. Plus, chances are, you will still get your item. Most ebayers do not sell items on ebay to see if they can screw buyers over.
