1965 Chruchill Crown And 1966 Canadian Dollar Sets

I was the winning bidder on these sets and wonder what the origins are. Can anybody help me out?

The set look to me like a privately produced item, not an official mint product.

Nice looking presentation, maybe a corporate giveaway of some sort? Wonder who RT is/was.

I'm pretty sure RT is for Royal Trust and around this time there were fundraisers for scholarships in Churchill's name. Perhaps a fund raising item towards that goal?

The RT logo is indeed from the bank named Royal Trust (it's now RBC I believe). I have a similar set (1966 1c-$1) in a case with the same logo on the box, coins seated on the same blue fabric. I acquired it from an elderly man who told me it was part of a bank promotion where you got the set of coins from that year for opening an account.

Cool set! Who knows, maybe you can send the Churchill Crowns in for grading and get that ever-elusive pop-top coin that so many of us are hoping for! image

Outstanding! Way outside of my areas of interest, but what a great item, congrats to you!

Makes sense to me. That beats getting a toaster. And now that you mention it, I think a made an MS66 .50 from one of those .01-1$ sets. Thanks, Pokermandude. image
BTW: Here's the link for the TrueView image of that coin: 1966 .50 MS66

If I do, I know who wants one. And while I'm at it, perhaps I'll score some small beads 1966 Canadian dollars as well. image

Thanks again for the replies. image
