Dennis, why not a 'west coast dealer'? image

  • Jim from the Kennedy Center has offered to post the coin in his next mailing if I do not sell the coin. He has a good strong client base and I am sure one of his clients will take it.

Or why not a mid-America dealer? image

Does this mean you have you decided to stop pursuing a Sacagawea registry set?
  • Hi Dennis, not that I can afford it, but what kind of money are you asking?

Does this mean that you are selling off your SAC set? It is safe for as long as you want it to be !!!!!

  • Tad,
I was thinking of not pursuing Sacs anymore. What kind of price do you think this coin is worth. High offer right now is $2500.
    Let me know your thoughts.

    Thanks, Dennis

I really don't know -- I haven't done much with 2001 Sacagaweas. I did search a few rolls of 2001-D and found nothing but junk, which mirrors the pop report, but that's the extent of my experience.

I do think part of the reason for lower pops is also that submitters have not been as enthusiastic for 2001 -- many people lost or only broke even submitting 2000 Sacs and I think a lot of them stayed away from the 2001 issue.

    Dennis,

I would take the $2,500 if I were you!

  • Mark,
Just heard a news story on the radio that the US Mint has suspended minting of all Sacagawea Dollars due to rising costs and lack of use. Could be one of the shortest series and highly collectible. Or, they could pull a Susan B Anthony of use and start minting them again after a long hiatus.

  • YThe reason for not making any more is the more than 350,000,000 sitting in the vaults. Thats like 350million, did it sink in.

Do ya think theres a few more 68,69, 70s in the group.

Definetly not my version of a rarity or a good investment.
