Anyone have print-run info on the 1990 Topps TV team sets...

In 1990, Topps issued special team sets of the Cardinals, Cubs, Mets, Red Sox and Yankees via some sort of TV offer. They also produced a better known "TV All Star" set, which was basically individual cards for each member of the 1990 AS team.

Anyways the Cardinals, Cubs, Mets, Red Sox and Yankees team set cards seem to be hard to come by, but I've never seen any hard numbers on how many of each was produced. Does anyone know what the approximate print run was for these sets?

I have a couple of cards from the All Star set, which took me forever and a day to find. Lately there have been several graded on eBay. Here is some information from the 2009 Standcard Baseball Catalog about the Cardinals. I know it doesn't say exactly how many sets, but it does mention that it is limited in the local area. I hope this helps.

Available only as a boxed set via a limited television offer, this team set includes cards of all players on the opening day roster plus the
manager, selected coaches and many of the organization’s top prospects. In many cases this is the first card of a player in major league uniform, and in some cases represents the only card which will ever be issued of the player as a major leaguer. Cards feature a high-gloss front surface. Backs have a red border and feature a “ghost image” of the photo on the front as a background to the statistical and biographical data. Because of the relatively limited production and the fact it was sold as a boxed set only, single cards are seldom available.

Ha! $20 for a complete team set. Good luck even finding one, much less finding one for $20. I have a Cardinals team set and I, too, would like to know the print run. They are pretty hard to come by. There is one on Ebay right now for $90 or best offer.

The SCD Standard catalog says only that production numbers were low since it was a TV offer in limited markets. I bought all the sets from Fritsch some years back. They may still have some listed in their paper or on line catalog
    Topps Baseball-1948, 1951 to 2017
    Bowman Baseball -1948-1955
    Fleer Baseball-1923, 1959-2007

For team/player collectors, the team sets are a good source of "XRCs", if you care to use that distinction. I collect rookie cards (or first MLB cards) of everyone who ever played for the Giants, and there are 6 guys who have cards in these 1990 TV team sets that predate their commonly recognized "rookie cards."

Topps' most limited issue in 1990 was the Bowman Tiffany set, which was limited to 3,000 sets. I wonder if these TV team sets are MORE limited?

The 1990 Topps TV Sets are one of my favorites from the modern era for many reasons. Not only are they beautiful cards with vibrant images on the front and back, but they are extremely limited. I have never heard of any print run information, but have heard the Yankees are the hardest to find, followed by the Mets, Red Sox, Cubs and Cardinals if my memory serves me right. The All-Star Set is the most prevalent as it could be ordered nationwide, where the team sets could only be ordered in their respective markets. Here is my crown jewel from the toughest set, Pop 4, only 5 graded.

I just bought an All-Star set. Hopefully I will get it in a few days. I really only want the Cubs and maybe a couple others from it that I collect. If anyone needs a player or whatever from it please shoot me a message.
