Does something smell fishy here?

As I cruise through SGC listing everyday I notice a 1954 Topps Al Kaline RC in 70. Now, Kaline is one of my favorites so I click on the link.
So, i get this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/1954-Topps-AL-KALINE-201-SGC-70-5-5-RC-Rookie-HOF-/260717313795?pt=US_Baseball&hash=item3cb3f67f03
Notice the color issue along the top edge
Also, how can someone sell 4 of them? That is the quantity available
So i seemed to remember that coloring issue and went and did a quick check and came up with:
http://cgi.ebay.com/1954-Topps-AL-KALINE-201-SGC-70-5-5-RC-Rookie-HOF-/140403806963?pt=US_Baseball&hash=item20b0b812f3

So, in the immortal words of Vince Lombardi
"WHAT IN THE HELLS GOING ON OUT THERE?"

    That does look weird.

I have seen the same seller list cards as BIN's and also auction the same exact card at the same time. Probably with the intention of ending the BIN after the auction completes, or ending the auction early if someone hit the BIN first. I don't know if that's against ebay rules, but it's happened before.
  • look at his feedback.
ZERO as a seller, but has 15000 items listed for sale.

Looks like he takes others auctions and tries to sell them.

If they sell he buys them from the other guy?

    Good for you.
  • Wow, he also has a stockpile of mint 1956 Ted Williams cards.

Wait, everything seems to come in fours. Even auto Mantle jerseys.

I alerted the seller and am waiting on a response. I don't think it would take much digging to find more items for sale that the seller doesn't have.
  • Interesting, looks like one of those infomercial ideas. Low listing fees, no overhead, no items to stock! Buy my program for $500 and I'll send you all the info you need for a successful on-line business. You wont only have your own eBay store but you can even name it yourself! Look at the one a satisfied customer just started, 25,000 items and he doesn't stock a single one!

  • I would definitely stay away from this seller.
