Needing your thoughts on these two ebay auctions... real or fake?

One is for a blue colbalt Jefferson nickel-> http://cgi.ebay.com/Sparkling-COBALT-BLUE-Tones-NCG-PR66-1963-Jefferson-5c-/280611384947?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item4155bdee73

The second is this -> http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280610708742&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

I am very interested in both, but due to being new I am not experienced when it comes to coins with tones...

Any input would be appreciated!

Jason

For the nickel, there was a surge in proof 1960s Jeffersons toned in extremely bold blue, purple, or red around 2003. They're not too hard to find in PCGS or NGC plastic today, but if you send one in raw, it's a guaranteed bodybag today.

As for the dollar, I don't see anything wrong with it. Looks like a somewhat dark, original piece.

Welcome and please go back and turn you PM function on.

If you would like to create a link just copy the http.....
and then click on the http in blue right above the "please go back" in my text.
Then just paste into the box that comes up. Then another box will come up for
you to put "link", "ebay", "here" or etc.

I like to post the link out; this way you know if the url is valid or not - noone likes clicking on a link and next thing you know its a porn site especially if you are at work. I will post the url into the http box next time though image

Non-cameo early 1960s Jefferson nickels are sometimes found in sealed in original proof sets with steel blue toning.
The coin in question looks like one of those, although the blue is stronger (image color saturation boosted ?).

I'd call the Morgan Dollar "SMAT" (Somewhat Market Acceptible Toning).

My last 20 1962 proof sets had 10 "blue" nickels. They are very common. How the photo's are taken will effect how intense the blue appears. Can be hard to get the photo to match the in hand coin. Perhaps, the in-hand blue color will be alot different than the photo. I would ask the seller if coin color shade matches the coin. .......EDIT to add a proof setimageimage
