Anyone out there know anything about uncut sheets

Is there anyone who collects these? Where would be the best place to look for one. I only collect 1979 Topps hockey but I've never seen one for that year.

Any general info about these would be great.

Thanks in advance
Mike

I don't collect them, but I have seen quite a few pictures of vintage football card sheets. I have created "virtual" versions of some of them. See my blog article on uncut sheets for links.

There are a few uncut hockey sheets on eBay (one for $99,999.99!), but I don't see any 1979 Topps sheets at the moment.
  • nearmint, What a great resource. I knew someone around here would have great info.

There are usually some in the major auctions (legendary, huggins, etc.) Just have to keep an eye out for them.

Here's one of the 3 OPC 132 card half sheets from a 2004 mastronet auction:

Gretzky is in row 2 column 8

forgot to add, the Topps and OPC layouts are usually the same.

I've got about 50 or 60, going back to 1908. They show up occasionally on ebay, more often in major catalog auctions, and occasionally at shows.
There was a dealer from Canada at the National a few times that had a lot of hockey sheets- he had a really nice '70 Topps one that I hesitated on, came back 20 minutes later, only to find out it had sold. Can't recall his name, but he said he was from "way, way up north" and came down for the National and the Toronto show. Find him and you might be able to find what you're looking for.

I know its not 1979 but I do have two or three 1980 Topps sheets. Unfortunately, when they were laying on top of one another some of the black rubbed off onto the back of the other sheet.
