Anyone use a CanoScan 5600F Scanner before?

I just purchased an Epson V300 which I enjoy, but as a collector of newer stuff it handles refractor cards in a funky manner. Someone showed me scans from their CanoScan 5600F, and it handles the new shiny stuff like a dream. Just curious if others on the boards have experience with it. If so - I may be selling a slightly used Epson V300 soon image

  • Hey Burke- did you end up buying a 5600F? If so, did it handle the new reflective cards well?

i have the CanoScan 9000F and it's unbelievable, half of what I scan are refractors and it's amazing. Just buy the newest version...
  • Thanks for the info vladguerrero. I knew the V300 had an LED light source which has problems with refractors, and I saw that the 5600F and 9000F have a white LED light source (whatever that means) so I was curious. I think I will probably go with the 9000F. Did you have to tweek settings or were you able to scan right out of the box? Thanks again for your input.

Anyone have a sample scan from one of these scanners? I'd like to see how it handles refractor-type surfaces and slabs. Do they scan 3D objects well? Thanks in advance!
