Ebay issue: buyer requests shipment to alt address...

A buyer emailed me after paying for their item, telling me that his address with Paypal/Ebay was wrong, and asked me to send the item to a different address. The two addresses are 88 miles apart. I asked the buyer to change their address with Paypal/Ebay first.
Is this all that needs to be done, or do I need to refund their payment and have them re-pay after making the address corrections?

That's why I told them to make the correction on their end. However, I don't know if that will change the "protected" address that shows up when I click on the link to print a shipping label.

I've done this before, always send to the PP address.
Or take a risk of loosing the card and your money.

That is what I've had to do in the past and that is what PayPal told me when I had called them on the phone.
Do not take any chances and tell the buyer its his responsibility to make the correction.

Did Paypal hit you for a fee to do the refund?

PP will keep their $.30 transaction fee...no refund fees.

Correct.

So, is there any risk in shipping to them now?

<< <i>Hmm. After about a week, the buyer has re-paid by using the "gift" option via paypal (not paying via the Ebay invoice I sent).

oooops.
YES, there is NO risk in taking the gift and sending
the item wherever.
If PP gripes about "too many" gift payments being
processed, it can be a a little problem, tho. They
give at least one "warning" on the issue.

The PP Virtual Terminal account is another alt.
It's $30 a month, plus as high as 3.4%; do more vol, pay a lower fee.
It is unclear, to me, why it is not included in the "protection" nonsense.
COSTCO is the same price - or a little cheaper with "reward points" -
but the PP VT is easier to get.
