My photography setup is complete! Toned Eye Candy :)

Well after much debating I decided to get a third light to see how it works out. Needless to say I wish i did it sooner!!!

If I may ask, What kind of lights?
  • Too much light on most...you are over exposing everything and washing out the color a bit and compensating with saturation etc, you can see it clearly if you look at the PCGS slabs where the plastic is bright white when it should be a clear/purple...I would tone it down just a notch like you did on the first NGC slab and the focus etc is spot on so your images would be near perfection image

On toners you often need that 3rd light.

I have been using two lights. Do you have examples of when you were using two so we can see the difference?

thanks ill try that, i think also whats making the slabs look that way is the lights are simulated daylight lamps.

Do the lights seem to give off a blue hue to you?

Keep the third light, just try shooting in a different mode.

They look to be 5-$10 bucks online. They also say 6500k, so there should be no blue issue.

Good start! White balance appears off to me.

nope no blue hues at all. It works perfectly with my daylight white balance on my d90

I think the 3 lights made a big difference on the 1960 Frankie.

I'm using PAR 75 halogen flood lights. They were recommended by Mark Goodman. Toners are tough. I will try with three lights as well.

I use 2 75w Reveals at 10 & 2 with 100w halogen flood at 12 o'clock. I am using extension tubes on an adapted Nikon lens to a canon. So I need a ton of light to get the exposure faster than 1/15th at f8 this is the only toner pic I have handy that wasn't shot axial.

Please consider checking the white balance. The photos appear too cool (i.e. blue) to my eye.
