And the same answer: There is a huge point with very valuable coins where authentication is critical for resale value and liquidity, but submissions like these are a reminder that some people should sanity-check their potential submissions with a trusted and knowledgeable dealer or collector before throwing good money after bad.

looking at the lot submitted, there's not a lot of high end potential there in a genuine holder.

May be that the submitter cleaned/dipped all there coins
before they sent them in? It would be my guess that's what has
occurred. They where playing the game and it doesn't look like it worked out to well?

Unless it's a valuable and commonly faked coin, there's no point. Common date Peace Dollars, Walkers and Mercury Dimes don't count. Maybe if one of those Dimes was a 1916-D or a high details 21 or 21-D....

The thread title implies that the submitter knew he was submitting cleaned coins. My guess is that he had no such kmowlwdge.

Agree. He may be new to the hobby and bought these coins from one of those CW dealers with full page ads that sell primarily all raw coins.

The submitter is paying his dues and is learning a valuable lesson. Unfortunately, there is a good chance he will leave the hobby after this very expensive bad experience.

Good questions defy a good answer... but plenty of good examples.
My first submission to NGC had 50 % improperly cleaned coins. I told the owner it wouldn't be pretty. As if there's a proper way to cleaning. image

Of course there is, why would they have NCS, if they didn't "properly" clean coins?image

    YIKES!

Cleaning on Morgan & Peace dollars are pretty easy to see. Maybe this submitter just didn't have the knowledge of what to look for.

No easier than any other series, the difference is there are so many pristine coins that the MA rate for cleaning is much lower. It's the classic series that get people in trouble as what one person considers ok with cleaning/retoning/grime/color is not MA to someone else even though they can both agree what pristine is....which is but rarely obtainable in series like CHB for one image
