That coin has such a demand, in all grades, at any given time. It is the working mans affordable key date :-) Grumpy Ed, havent we even traded a coin or two of these?
What I found interesting is the huge price difference between PCGS and NGC on them. Especially in 66. About 12-13 for a 66 by PCGS and only about 8K for NGC 66. PCSG 65 is around 5k or so. I wonder which company's grading worked out better for him

I've been noticing that the gap in price between NGC and PCGS coins for certain series is growing.
Oh, and Cameron, there's a number of hoards of these out there... S-VDBs aren't rare at all, just expensive.

This phenomenon for early Lincolns has been evident for a while. NGC Lincolns seem to trade at the PCGS equivalent -1 (that's usually how they cross as well).
<< <i> what I've heard through the grapevine is that he is a southern California dealer who had a roll of 1909 SVDB cents and recently sent them all in for SecurePlus grading. He got one in 67RD which he claims to have sold for $150,000+. He also got 5 in 66+RD and around 15-20 in 66RD. with the rest grading 65 or lower. >>
I have also noticed several cert #'s that reappear .... maybe due to nonpayment? who knows?

I guess so many buyers want nice S-VDBs that even a big group didn't make much of a dent in the demand.
Pretty amazing to see that FB!
Hes been playing it very smart.
doing a couple on ebay, a couple at heritage, couple at bowers...
those babies are just waiting to take a drink in price.
I'd like to hear the story about the hoard though.
