A White Christmas in Atlanta!!

First measurable snow in Atlanta on Christmas Day since 1882

On average about 1-3 inches, no big deal, but the temps are dropping, so it'll freeze and then the fun will really begin. I kinda envy the folks who either own or who rented cabins in the north Georgia mountains this weekend...gotta be some kinda nice!! They will get 4 inches ++

I bet the people who were supposed to be on the hundreds of canceled flights through the worst airport in the United States are not so excited about the snow.

Probably creating a giant carbon footprint traveling around in his motorcade. Or maybe at home just looking at himself in the mirror.

Born and raised in Lowell...shovelled more than my fair share of that white stuff. Gee how I miss the plow coming back by after just doing the driveway. image My favorite thing to hear on the radio when growing up there was "there will be no school in Lowell today".

Finally sun breaking through here, do enjoy that blizzard. North Georgia got six inches, unheard of here.

Don't know how we escaped the snow in the DC area but we only got a dusting. The streets are clear without any plowing. There was 8 inches to the south and east of us and to the north in Philly they had quite a bit more.

I was stationed at Ft McPherson in Atlanta back in the 1980's and was amazed at how little snow it took to totally cripple the city.

I grew up in the Boston suburbs and the snow is the reason I never went back.

I too was stationed at Ft. Mac...I was a Company Commander right across from the movie theatre. A nice place to be after surviving Infantry OCS in Ft. Benning.

The problem here is that most people don't know how to handle driving in snow...freezing rain is even worse. Add to that the fact that snow plows are few and far between and they go crazy with rock salt and sand. We had almost 10 inches here back in 1993 and they actually shut down I-20 at the Alabama line and I-75 at the Tennessee line. People were beyond stranded and some were there for 2-3 days...imagine that!! It was insane.

Snow here is now almost non-existant, I'd be hard pressed to even make a snowball. However, it's still in the mid 20s and pretty windy.

Back in the early 70's , there were many books about the coming ice age. They were never correct. They were wrong. Up until a few years ago , all the vomit about " The world has a fever " , global warming, smashed head into reality , and when the scampsters realized the gig was up ( climategate ?) , we then had " climate change ".

Same scam , different name perhaps ? Again as stated earlier , Fools believe Fools ---- Sonny
