Wax Pack Collectors, i have a display question.

Do any of you have a wall display to display your wax packs?
if so, can you please post a picture and if you bought it, where you picked it up and how much it was?

Thanks,
Eric

  • Eric,

I can't answer your question directly, but check out Griffins post in this cool "Displays" thread (almost all the way to the bottom of that page). I'd love to be able to display my collection like this, too.

Let us know if you find anything!

I used to have them displayed until we did a bit of construction and I put everything in the safety deposit box, and they've been there ever since. They'll come out again after we move.

The key thing is to keep them protected from UV light- the wax paper will fade, and you won't even notice until it's too late. Make sure you use UV glass, and no florescent lighting- tubes or bulbs.
The display below was the one I had (still have it, empty and in a box) and was built by http://www.sportsdisplays.com/Sports Displays
I forgot the guys name but his work is incredible. His shop is about 90 minutes from me so I picked it up (he offers free shipping now) and the stuff he had there was amazing- other displays in the process of being finished, many with cards/bats/skateboards/whatever. Nice guy, great product.
Mine was just under $500, and it holds 48 packs. It's solid as a rock, heavy duty hinges, UV museum glass, felt lined and flawlessly finished.

sorry for the crappy snapshot. At some point I'll take everything out and reshoot it with some additions, but you get the idea.

I looked at Pennzoni's but they weren't nearly as well made. Once you get to that size you really need a decent frame and hinges or it will just fall apart.
Hopefully Buccaneer (Steve C.) will chime in, he made a few himself that were much better than the Pennzoni's. IMO if you're going that route you can do a better job yourself with minimal tools at a fraction of the cost.
Thanks for the kind words on the collection everyone.

yea, i know i can do a fine enough job, but its wintertime here in new york, so being outside isnt an option lol

also, going for the more expensive cases to hold modern wax packs doesnt make much sense to me lol
