Pre-1800s Coins

I really like the early US coins, but they are all pretty expensive. I currently don't have any. What is the cheapest 1700s US coin that can be purchased in mint state? Post a pic if you have an early US coin too!

Mint state coinage from the 1790s issued from the US Mint is out of the budget of the vast majority of collectors. I don't know what the least expensive MS coin from this time frame would cost, but it likely would be quite a bit.

Likely a Draped Bust Dime or Half-Dime would be the least expensive.
Half-Cents could be "pretty cheap" (relatively speaking) too, but I don't know the series!

The 1798 Dime is near $6K.

Unlikely you can actually buy an example at these prices.....

There are various tokens minted in the U.S. (and Europe) that are relatively inexpensive. Many are highly appealing and historic. Tough to locate but when they turn up just don't go for the amount the regular coinage is awarded.
