William Kate Royal Engagement Alderney commemorative coins

UK's Royal Mint is selling some NCLT (Non-Circulating Legal Tender) coins,
including a gold five pounds coin, to commemorate the engagement between
Prince William and Catherine (Kate) Middleton.

The coins are issued under the name of the island of Alderney,
one of the Channel Islands.

Some people do not like the design and have been complaining.

The gold coin was shown on this morning's American NBC
television show "Today".

The news woman did make an interesting observation, that some of
these coins will be around in 200 years and people then are going
to know what Kate looked like solely from the coins.

I can't say that I'm overly fond of the design, but I recall reading in one article that it was approved by both Prince William and Kate...

My birth year is 1981. All I have to say is that I feel the pain of any future birth year collectors over this...

Oh, and Cybil Shepard was hotter in Taxi Driver than on this coin.
