Castilla and Sheffield already making their presence known as Braves players...

Just like Fred McGriff and Andres Galarraga in the past, Vinny Castilla and Gary Sheffield make their presence known in the first game of the season by each hitting homers. Castilla with a 3-run shot and Sheffield with a 2-run shot. Glavine is pitching a masterpiece. 7 K's, and has allowed only 3 hits. Braves will be kicking some serious ass this season! Go Braves!!!

To bad they won't win any rings, World Series rings that is. ehh, maybe next season. Wait, haven't the braves fans been saying that for the past decade? I think the Phillies will be a team to reckon with, but I'll never count out the Braves. That is, until there in the W.S.

Your point? Atleast we were THERE. What teams can honestly say that they have had a great decade like the Braves? We might have won only one world series title, but one is better than none whatsover. Most teams haven't won world series' or even been in the playoffs for quite a long while.

What team can say that they have won 11 straight division titles? No team. And as a matter of fact, no team in the history of SPORTS has done it, so that's a pretty good record if you ask me...that'll never be broken. Gotta give credit where credit is due.

  • The Braves will break it this year with 12!!

Hey, that is a great record for a second place team. They were the best team in the National League for the past decade, but all the pitchers are getting up there(Like the Yanks) and the braves have 3 guys who I believe are dangerous, V. Castilla, C. Jones, and G. Sheffield. I would say A. Jones but hopefully he will become more consistent. Unless they make some nice trades/free agent pick ups, I don't see the Braves going to the World Series for another 4 years. But Philly is a very good up and coming team in the NL.

"What teams can honestly say that they have had a great decade like the Braves?"
1.) The Yankees, I would have rather won 4 rings and gone to the playoffs 6 times then go 11 times and win only once. Personal opinion, but if, or should I say when, the Yanks go to the World Series, I don't believe any National League team can take them for a 7 game series.

I don't think that record for 11 division titles will ever be broken as you said. But I can't call them the Team of the 90's because they didn't have dominance over the whole MLB, only the NL.

Braves are already looking good this season after the FIRST game. Glavine went strong, and then Dennis Eckersley...OOPS...I meant John Smoltz comes in to close it out...image

Sheffield and Castilla were big pickups, plus Furcal is healthy...People say that this Braves team is probably the best team Atlanta has ever had...(including the 1995 team)...

    GO BRAVES!
