I would put it back in my wallet and wait for it to be at least be $3,000-$,8000 then I would wait for an auction that has something that I like and would upgrade one of my Registry Sets.

A VERY broad question to which you will get many different answers. My answer...be pickey, and buy what you love.

$50 = Superb GEM 1943 spot free PCGS War cent.
$100 = Ultra GEM lustrous white PCGS Winged Liberty dime.
$250 = First year of issue blast white GEM PCGS Franklin half.
$500 = The coolest looking error I could find, possibly a GEM Red 1980 nickel struck on a cent.
$750 = Worn cameo bust quarter- preferably an 1805 (vs and 1806) in the highest grade (FN12?) I could locate.
$1000 = AU++ problem free- original Seated dollar.

That is what I would (possibly) do.

I would try to find the best graded coin i liked at each price point paying attention to greysheet pricing. I would not pay over ask reguardless for ANY coin. If you are going to overpay ( meaning you know full well that you would take a huge hit if you tried to resale the next day) leave the money in your wallet.

Buy some guns instead. Coins and guns go together anyway.

    $50---PCGS graded AU58 Morgan dollar I don't have yet.
    $100--See above.
$250--XF/AU PCGS graded 1896 Barber Half <--This one may have to move down on the list if it ever shows up.
$500--AU58 PCGS graded Seated Half I do not have yet.
    $750--I'm still looking.
$1000--Looked at a 1934-S Peace dollar this morning still thinking on it. Toning is a little distracting.

$50, cheap coin in a doily holder (yeah, right!)
$100, The next XF Seated quarter that I need for my set.
    $250, 1821 Bust Quarter in F
$500, 1832 Bust Quarter in XF
    $750, 1851-O or 1849-O Seated quarter
$1000, 1872-S Seated quarter (or an 1872-CC if I can get lucky enough for the price.)

This is what I would do within the parameters of the OP.
